Saturday 7th May 2005 - ESBL
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 0 - 4 Mersea Island

Felixstowe :- Ryan, Jacobs, Fox , Wyard, Anderson, Dickerson, Gray, Rogowski, Donnally, Rodwell, and Harrison (Wiggins).

With the first team call ups and call off’s in the morning, manager Steve Jacobs was struggling to field a team. We managed to start with 11 players. With Chris Ryan going in goal and four under 18’s in the side and the substitute turning up at half time the team battled well. Ryan in goal could not be faulted for any of the goals conceded, the defence battled hard but came under constant pressure and Donnally ran his socks off. It was in midfield where we took a battering, we were just not up to the task. Mersea went on to win 4-0 in a game that turned into a fiasco as Mersea had two players sent off in the last 10 minutes, with the game well won, they also had all the substitutes in the dug out booked. All in all a disappointing end to the season.

Wednesday 4th May - Essex & Suffolk Border League
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 2 - 3 Bradfield Rovers (2-1)

Felixstowe :- Pitts, Jacobs, Dickerson, Mathews,(Rodwell), Wyard, Anderson, Beddoes (Harrison), Gray, Ellwood (Ryan), Burton and Pugh.
Felixstowe started the game well and went ahead in the 3rd minute, Dickerson crossed from the right and Ellwood was on the end to head home. In the 17th minute they went two up with Burton scoring with a good shot. Bradfield were awarded a free kick just outside the box and Scott's shot just crept under the body of Pitts. Felixstowe had several chances to increase their lead with three good efforts from Pugh which the visitors keeper saved well and Anderson’s shot was deflected onto the post by the keeper. H.T 2.1

Second half. Pugh for Felixstowe crossed from the left and Burton’s shot was tipped over the bar by Whiddet in the visitors goal. Wyard got on the end of a corner only to see his header well saved. Dickerson sent over a cross from the right which Burton got on the end off but his header went past the post. Then in the 67th minute totally against the run of play Bradfield levelled the game when Scott shot and Pitts could only parry, Amey followed up to score 2.2. Almost straight from the restart Bradfield went ahead when Scott hit an unstoppable shot giving Pitts no chance. In the last few minutes Harrison’s shot was saved by the visitors keeper and Dickerson saw his shot go past the post. Felixstowe did not deserve to lose this game, but unfortunately we could not convert our chances into goals.

Wednesday 27th April - Essex & Suffolk Border League
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 0 - 3 Bures United (0-0)

Felixstowe :- Pitts, Dickerson, Jacobs, (Anderson), Wyard, Millbourne, Beddoes, (Ellwood), Mathews, Gray, Rogowski, Ryan, (Rodwell) and Pugh.
Felixstowe looked the livelier team in the early stages when Harrison sent in a corner and Wyard headed just over the bar. As the game progressed both sides produced some good football, but chances were few and far between. Pitts in the home goal had to save at the foot of the post to deny Bures. Just before half time Felixstowe were forced to make a change when Ryan was injured and was replaced with Rodwell.

Felixsowe again started well, with a good cross from Jacobs and Mathews header bringing a fine save from Lee in the visitors goal. Felixstowe had to make another substitution when Anderson replaced the injured Jacobs, this unsettled the home defence and Bures took advantage and went 1.0 up with a goal by Farrugia. Felixstowe’s Rogowski had a good shot that Lee saved, but Bures went 2 up with Adams scoring strait from a free kick. A defensive error allowed Lillie to run through and score for Bures third, giving Pitts in the home goal no chance. Felixstowe were very unlucky not to get a consolation goal when Wyard’s fine header from a corner was spectacularly saved by Lee in the visitors goal. Although Bures deserved to win the score was a bit flattering as both teams played a good entertaining football.

Saturday 23rd April 2005 - ESBL
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 2 - 1  Glemsford & Cavendish  (1-1)

Felixstowe: -
Pitts, Dickerson, Jacobs, Wyard, Millbourne, Hunn, Mathews, Entwistle, Rogowski, Rodwell, (Ryan) and Harrison, (Fox).

Felixstowe took the lead in the second minute when
Harrison crossed from the left, the ball was headed clear by the Glemsford defence only to fall to Rogowski on the edge of the box whose shot went into the bottom left hand corner of the net. Hunn for Felixstowe had a shot that went just wide. Harrison took a corner from the right and Wyard’s header went over the bar. Felixstowe were pressing hard for their second with Rogowski and Entwistle both having shots. In the 35th minute Mathews for the home side had a wonderful chance to go 2 up when he latched on to a through ball and rounded Smith in the Glemsford goal only to shoot over the bar. In the 37th minute, against the run of play, the visitor’s levelled with the linesman flagging for offside, the referee waved play on and Tozer cut in from the left and shot over the advancing Pitts and into the net. With about 2 minutes of the half left, Mathews had a shot that Smith in the visitor’s goal saved well. H.T. 1.1.

Glemsford came out and had a good spell of pressure early in the half but it was  Felixstowe who had the better chances Rogowski was clean through but Smith made a fine save, a good run and shot by Mathews but again Smith was equal to it and saved well. In the 78th minute Felixstowe took a deserved lead when Wyard floated a free kick in from the left and Millbourne timed his run to perfection to head home. In the closing stages of the game Smith for the visitors, who was having an outstanding game, came to the rescue again when Ryan for Felixstowe flicked the ball on to put Entwistle through only to see his shot well saved. For the home side Dickerson gave a solid display at right back. Full time 2-1

Tuesday 19th April 2005 - ESBL
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 2 - 4  West Bergholt Res. (2-2)

Felixstowe: - Algar, Jacobs, Mathews, Parry, (Rogowski), Millbourne, (Wyard),
Anderson, Gray, Pugh, Ellwood, (Harrison), Fellgate and Burton.

Although Felixstowe were defeated 4 -2 the game was a closely fought encounter with both teams playing some good football.

It was Felixstowe who scored first when Burton was put through and calmly slotted the ball past the advancing Woolgar and into the net. For the next ten minutes West Bergholt put Felixstowe under pressure and in the 15th minute a good cross was met by McLlwaine giving Algar no chance in the home goal. West Bergholt went ahead when Shorter pounced on a loose ball in the Felixstowe box to score. Burton then scored his second of the game with a stunning shot giving the visiting keeper no chance. H.T. 2-2

The second half started with West Bergholt putting Felixstowe under pressure and Algar having to make a double save and moments later tipping a fine shot over the bar. Felixstowe settled down and started to press the visitors. Pugh was unlucky with a rasping drive from the edge of the box from a pass by Fellgate. West Bergholt took the lead and in the closing minutes they went further ahead with a good shot from McLlwaine. Full time 2-4.

Saturday 16th April 2005 - ESBL
Weeley Athletic Res.  3 - 2  Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  (2-2)

Felixstowe: - Algar, Jacobs, Rodwell, Wyard, (Wiggins), Anderson, Burton, Grey, Ryan, Gabriel, Ellwood and Harrison.

We were hoping we could carry on from our victory in midweek, but although we started well enough it was not to be our day, in the end losing by the odd goal.

Felixstowe took the lead in the second minute when Burton crossed from the right and Gabriel was on the end of it to head home. Weeley came back and in the fifth minute Rouse had a simple tap in to level.  Weeley took the lead through Lindley with a shot giving Algar in the Felixstowe goal no chance. Wyard was replaced by Wiggins and five minutes before the interval Gabriel scored his second after a good run. H.T 2.2

Felixstowe started the second half well with a good move down the right that ended with Burton’s shot just going wide. Weeley went close with Rouse just heading over the bar. Gray for Felixstowe had a long shot but Gillmore in the home goal was equal to it. In the 70th minute Weeley took the lead though Lindley when he ran on to a loose ball to score. Felixstowe had more than enough chances in this game to take all three points but it was never going to be our day.

Wednesday 13th April 2005 - ESBL
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 3 - 1  Gas Rec. Res.  (0-0)

Felixstowe: - Pitts, Rogowski, Jacobs, Gray, Anderson, Wyard, (Fox), Burton, Beddoes, (Ryan), Gabriel, Ellwood and Pugh, (Harrison).

Felixstowe recorded their first league win since the end of January with a good overall performance against Gas Recreation Res.
In the first half Felixstowe dominated, with plenty of good approach work but could not turn their pressure into goals. Early in the half Jacobs for Felixstowe made a fine tackle to clear the danger which has probably Gas Recreations most creative attack of the half. Harrison came on for the injured Pugh.  A good cross from Rogowski that Burton got on the end of almost broke the deadlock. H.T 0.0

Almost from the kick off Beddoes for Felixstowe had a shot that produced a good save from the visitor’s keeper Caley. The home side went in front when Ellwood made a good run into the box and pulled the ball back for Gabriel to open the scoring. Within a few minutes Felixstowe went two up, again Ellwood with a clever lob over the visitors defence for Gabriel to run onto and score his second.
Under18 player Fox making his debut came on for the injured Wyard for Felixstowe. Rogowski and Ellwood both had shots that Caley in the visitor’s goal had to deal with.
In the 75th minute Gas pulled a goal back through Day giving Pitts in the home goal no chance.
Felixstowe restored a two goal advantage when
Harrison crossed from the left and Burton scored with a good header. In the closing minutes of the game Ellwood, Ryan, and Gabriel all went close.

Saturday 9th April 2005 - ESBL
West Bergholt Res  4 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  (2-1)

Felixstowe:- Algar, Wiggins, Jacobs, Wyard, Millbourne,
Anderson, Gabriel, Ellwood, Burton, Rogowski and Harrison.
Felixstowe were down to the bare bones with only eleven players and a couple of them were carrying injuries.  Although we lost the game the players can be proud of the fact that they played very well in what was an entertaining game.

Felixstowe took the lead in the 4th minute when Burton was pulled down in the box and Harrison converted the penalty.  In the 18th minute West Bergholt drew level when Barnstom had a fine shot giving Algar in the Felixstowe goal no chance.  Almost immediately after this West Bergholt went 2-1 up when Wyard put in a challenge but unfortunately the loose ball went to McLwaine whose snap shot again gave Algar no chance.  Although we were 2-1 down Felixstowe were not playing too bad and for the remainder of the half we had the better chances to equalise, Rogowski having a shot just wide, Elwood having a shot just over the bar and Gabriel having a shot which the keeper saved.

The second half started with Felixstowe having the better exchanges.  Unfortunately West Bergholt went further ahead in the 65th minute, making it 3-1. Shortly after this Felixstowe pulled one back through Gabriel when Millbourne put him away and he calmly shot the ball past the advancing keeper – 3-2.   West Bergholt went further ahead when they caught Felixstowe’s defence a bit square and McLwaine again went through to score.  4-2. For the last 20 minutes Felixstowe went down to 10 men when Millbourne came off injured and with no subs available we had to cope.  We did have a couple of chances to reduce the deficit with Burton having a shot just over the bar and Harrison in the dying minutes had a header at the far post which went into the side netting.

Wednesday 6th April 2005 - ESBL
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 1- 1 Severalls  (0-1)

F
elixstowe: - Rogowski, Parry, (Burton), Stiff, Jacobs, (Harrison), Wyard, Anderson, Morgan, Gray, Mathews, (Ellwood), Felgate and Gabriel.

With four first team players in the squad and no goalkeeper it was all change again for this evening’s game with Severalls. Rogowski who normally plays up front or in midfield pulled on the No 1 jersey for tonight’s game.

Felixstowe  kicked off  but came under pressure straight away, but a good challenge from Wyard cleared the danger. Severalls were awarded a free kick midway in Felixstowe’s half  and the shot come cross but was comfortably dealt with by Rogowski in the home goal. Wyard had a shot for Felixstowe that went wide. A free kick for Severalls just outside the box went wide. Both sides were battling in midfield to gain advantage with Felixstowe just coming out on top.
Felixstowe had a corner that Wyard headed towards goal but it deflected off a defender for another corner. Against the run of play Severalls took the lead, the Felixstowe’s defence were pushing up, looking for offside, when
Taylor for the visitors ran through the defence and coolly shot over the advancing Rogowski for a well taken goal. Felixstowe were pushing hard for the equaliser with Stiff going closest with a shot that was cleared. H.T 0.1

Felixstowe came out for the second half in determined mood and put Severalls under pressure for almost the entire second half with shots from Mathews, Wyard, Stiff, Fellgate, Harrison and Morgan. Then in the 60th minute Harrison for Felixstowe crossed, after a good move down the left, and Morgan was on hand at the near post to slot the ball home. Felixstowe, who deserved all 3 points, continued to press the visitors but their defence held firm and in the end had to settle for a draw.

Saturday 2nd April 2005 - ESBL
Bures United  1 - 0  Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  (1-1)
Felixstowe:-Algar, Wyard, (Ellwood), Jacobs,(Gabreil), Burton, Millbourne, Anderson, Felgate, Gray, Ingham,(Harrison), Rogowski ,and Mathews.
This was another narrow defeat by second in the league Bures.   Bures kicked off and forced a corner that Farrugia shot over the bar. Bures had  two more corners  that came to nothing. Felixstowe were awarded a free kick that Wyard floated into the box, Mathews rose highest only to see his header tipped over the bar by Lee in the home goal. From the resulting corner Mathews again won the header this time it went over the bar. Adams for Bures had a shot just over the bar, then Rogowski for Felixstowe saw his shot also go over the bar. Bures took the lead when Algar in the Felixstowe goal could only parry the shot and Bird had a simple tap in to put them ahead.
Jacobs
for Felixstowe had to come off through injury and was replaced by Gabriel and for the rest of the half Felixstowe were put under a lot of pressure by Bures, who had several shots on goal.  Notably Adams for the home team was very effective having had two good shots, one which the Felixstowe keeper saved and the other from a corner that Gray for Felixstowe cleared off the line.

Ellwood came on for the injured Wyard for Felixstowe.  Felixstowe started the second half the livelier of the two teams with Felgate having a shot which the keeper saved.  Harrison then came on for Ingham. Gabriel had a cross which the keeper could only fumble which went for a corner and the same player had another shot saved.  This was good pressure from Felixstowe.  Unfortunately we could not sustain it and Bures came back at Felixstowe with Farrugia and Lillie shooting wide and then Ockmore had a shot which was kicked off the line by Millbourne.  Lillie then crossed again and the ball was headed against his own post by Felixstowe’s Millbourne who was under pressure.  Just as the game was coming to a close Algar in the Felixstowe goal saved well at the feet of Ockmore, seconds later Baalham had a shot that was also saved by Algar.

Wednesday 30th March 2005 - Tommy Thompson Cup
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 0 - 1 Brightlingsea  (0-1)

Felixstowe:- Algar, Wyard, Jacobs, Anderson, Millbourne, Mathews, Gabreil, Gray, Inham, Rogowski, Burton, (Ellwood), Subs: Harrison, and Rodwell.
Felixstowe went out of the cup sadly though an own goal in the 8th minute, in what was an entertaining game.   Brightlingsea scored with a long ball into the Felixstowe box. Algar in the home goal, tried to collect the ball just under the crossbar but it slipped through his hands and into the net giving the visitors a surprise lead.

Burton had a shot in the 16th minute that went wide. Felixstowe’s Gray took a long throw that was flicked on at the near post, Gabriel knocked the ball back across the face of the goal which beat the visiting keeper but was cleared by a defender.
Burton
had a good chance to level. After a good pass from Rogowski but his shot went the wrong side of the post. As half time approached, Felixstowe were pushing for the equalizer.  Wyard had a shot well wide and Ingham shot over the bar. Half time 0.1

The second half started the same as the first finished with Felixstowe having the lion’s share of the possession but could not turn this into goals.  Rogowski had a shot wide, and a rare attack by Brightlingsea was cut short by a fine tackle by Jacobs. Then probably the best chance of the game fell to Felixstowe’s Mathews as he was put clean through by Rogowski  with only the keeper to beat, but shot wide. Both Ingham and Gabriel for Felixstowe both had shots that were off target. In the end it was the own goal that settled the game on a night when Felixstowe had most of the possession.
Good luck to Brightlingsea  in the next round.

Saturday 26th March 2005 - ESBL
Mersea Island  2 - 1  Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  (1-1)

Felixstowe:- Algar, Millbourne, (Wiggins), Jacobs, Dickerson, Anderson, Wyard, Mathews, Grey, Rogowski, Harrison,  and  Donnally, (Rodwell).

Mersea Island kicked off and had the first attack when they were awarded a free kick about 25 yards out that fell to Huggins who shot over the bar.  In the 11th minute Felixstowe had the ball in the Mersea net when Harrison floated a free kick into the box and Wyard scored what looked like a perfectly good headed goal only for the referee to disallow it for an infringement.
Mersea beat the offside trap but Algar in the Felixstowe goal was equal to it and responded to save at the feet of the Mersea player. In the 22nd minute, Hammond for Mersea headed home to put the home team in front.  1-0.  Felixstowe responded with Rogowski shooting over the bar and in the 33rd minute a good clearance from Wyard put Rogowski through with only the keeper to beat.  As the keeper advanced Rogowski lobbed the ball to score a fine goal.  1-1. Almost immediately Felixstowe possibly should have gone ahead when again, but this time Millbourne, put Matthews away whose lob this time landed on the roof of the net unfortunately the wrong side of the bar.
Rogowski was in the action again when he took a free kick just outside the box which went just wide.  There was a let off for Felixstowe when Curtis for Mersea should have put Mersea in front but his header went just past the post.  With almost the last kick of the half, Mersea sent a good ball into the Felixstowe area but was thwarted with a fine header from Anderson.  Felixstowe had a free kick which Harrison shot over the bar.
Half time 1-1.

Within 25 seconds of the restart Mersea went ahead with a long ball into the Felixstowe box which Algar could only parry, it fell to Mersea and Kerry planted it into the roof of the net. Wiggins came on for the injured Millbourne and Rodwell for Donnally. Mathews making his debut for Felixstowe possibly should have done better with a shot from about 12 yards out but it went wide. Felixstowe did have some useful attacks but could not reproduce the first half performance and went down to a team that have won 9 out of their last 10 games.

Saturday 19th March 2005 - ESBL
Woodbridge Town Res.  2 - 2  Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  (1-2)

Felixstowe:- Pitts, Millbourne, (Dickerson) Willett, R.Hunn, Anderson, Wyard, Jacobs, Grey, Ingham, (Donnally), (Rodwell) Rogowski and Burton.

In what was an entertaining game of football, on a warm sunny day, the points were shared. Although Woodbridge played some good football it was Felixstowe who took the lead through Ingham when in the 8th minute Rogowski  flicked the ball on and Ingham scored to put Felixstowe in front.
Woodbridge levelled in the 24th minute when Heathcote was left unmarked in the box and made no mistake from about 3 yards out. Felixstowe regained the lead in the 30th minute when they were awarded a free kick just outside the box and Rogowski gave the home keeper no chance with a fine shot into the top right corner of the net. Then Gray for Felixstowe sent in a long ball that fell to Millbourne on the edge of the box but his shot was well wide. Felixstowe continued to press but could not add to the score and went in at half time with a deserved lead.

The seconded half started  with Felixstowe being forced to make two changes, Dickerson and Donnally came on for Millbourne and Ingham who both went off injured.  This had an  instant impact and Woodbridge levelled the score again when Laidlaw scored with a close range header 2.2. Woodbridge were now putting Felixstowe under pressure. Bales for Woodbridge had a free kick that went wide, Laidlaw had a header wide and Spencer hit the bar. Rogowski crossed and Jacobs for Felixstowe saw his header saved  by Garnham in the home goal. A clever back heal by Hunn found Jacobs who shot over the bar. In the final attack Woodbridge were unlucky not to take the lead but for a good save by Pitts in the Felixstowe goal. A drew was probably a fair result.

Saturday 12th March 2005 - ESBL
Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  1 -1  Weeley Athletic  (0-1)

Felixstowe;- Algar, Wiggins, Jacobs, Millbourne, Anderson, Wyard, R. Hunn, Grey, Djan,(Ingham), Rogowski, and Harrison.

Felixstowe got a well earned point after coming from behind after Rouse had given the visitors the lead in the 13th minute. Weeley kicked off but it was Felixstowe that had the first attack, Harrison sent over a cross but Gillmore in the Weeley  goal came smartly off his line to just beat Hunn to the ball to clear the danger. Weeley went ahead in the 13th minute when Rouse picked up the ball on the edge of the area and shot to Algar’s left
.
Harrison had a chance to level for Felixstowe but shot wide after a good pass from Millbourne. Just before half time Algar  made two good saves in quick succession  from Brunt for Weeley, it was a poor half from Felixstowe and Weeley deserved their lead.

Felixstowe  kicked off the second half when Ingham, replacing Djan,  had an immediate impact,  he crossed from the right across the face of the goal but no Felixstowe player could get on the end of it.  The same player had a good shot that Gillmore in the visitors goal could only parry round the post for a corner. Down the other end Felixstowe had a lucky escape when a corner was whipped in from the right and Wyard for Felixstowe cleared off the line, By now Felixstowe were putting the visitors under a lot of pressure but could not produce the equaliser. Harrison took a free kick just outside the box but his shot just went over the bar, then what was probably Felixstowe’s best move of the game Millbourne sent a long ball into the visitor’s box and Rogowski flicked it on and Gray hit it on the volley from the edge of the box only to see his shot shave the wrong side of the post with the keeper well beaten this move deserved a goal.
Weeley
had a couple of shots both by Rouse who was looking lively for Weeley. Down the other end Jacobs for Felixstowe had a shot charged down and Harrison picked up the loose ball only to see Gillmore pull of another fine save, it did not look as if it was going to be Felixstowe’s day when in the 89th minute Felixstowe were awarded a free kick just outside of the box. Up stepped Rogowski whose shot hit the underside of the bar and came down in what looked like being over the line, but Wiggins followed up to put the ball in the net making absolutely sure giving Felixstowe a well deserved point.

Saturday 26th February 2005 - ESBL
Alresford Res.  1 - 0  Felixstowe & Walton United Res.   (1-0)

Felixstowe:- Algar, Burton, Jacobs, Morgan, Stiff, Wyard, Beddoes, Gray (Orford), Pugh, Rogowski, Harrison (Wiggins)
Adam Auger's goal from eight yards, three minutes before the interval, was all that separated the sides on a cold wet afternoon in Essex.
Felixstowe left the field at half time wondering how they had failed to score. The Seasiders had posed the greater threat to that point with Rogowski the first to test Pilkinton in the home goal, producing a good save after six minutes, and Pilkinton was again equal to the task when he palmed Pugh's shot away for a corner shortly after.
Wyard's header cleared the danger posed by Auger, at the expense of a corner, as Alresford built their attacks through the influential Burgess without testing Algar in the visitors goal. Polley broke through the Felixstowe defence on twenty minutes shooting wide under pressure from Burton.
Perry produced a fine tackle to deny Pugh with Pilkinton making a double save to block shots from Pugh and Morgan as the Seasiders gained the upper hand. Baker cleared Morgan's header, from Rogowski's corner, off the Alresford goal line with the interval approaching and a goalless half in prospect before Auger struck. Deeny and Burgess had linked well on the edge of the Felixstowe area but the danger looked to have been cleared before the ball ran to the unmarked Adam Auger who drilled the ball home from eight yards.

Beddoes switched to midfield in the second period with Burton and Harrison pushing forward in search of an equaliser. Harrison came closest, shooting over the home goal when well placed following a free kick on the edge of the area. Jacobs, Gray and Wyard all battled hard for possession but the final telling ball was absent and Alresford maintained a clean sheet to claim all three points.

An ambulance was required for Arlesford's Phil Whitting following a painful shoulder injury and we wish Phil a speedy recovery.

Saturday 19th February 2005 - Tommy Thompson Cup 2nd Round
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 2 - 0  St. Osyth Res.  (0-0)

Felixstowe:- Pitts, Wiggins (Orford), Jacobs, Anderson, Wyard, Rowgowski, Milbourn, Grey, Ingham, Harrison, Rodwell (R. Hunn).
Felixstowe took to the field with injuries and call ups to the 1st 11 dictating the
team today with James Rodwell coming into the side from the under 18’s. St. Osyth kicked off with a very strong wind at their backs, it was obvious from the start their intention was to use the wind to get the ball forward as early as possible.  For the first few minutes St Osyth put Felixstowe under pressure but never threatened the goal.  Their forwards were caught offside a couple of times trying to use the long ball but poor finishing and good defending from Felixstowe kept the score sheet clean up to half time.  Felixstowe had a couple of chances both falling to Harrison but on both occasions he shot wide.  A well timed tackle by Wyard when a St Osyth forward was clean through cleared the danger.  It must be said that this was a poor half from Felixstowe but fortunately we survived with a clean sheet.  Half-time 0-0.

Steve Jacobs introduced both subs at half-time.  Hunn returning from injury replaced Rodwell and Orford came on for Wiggins.  This had the desired effect and almost from the start you could see Felixstowe play better football.  Early in the second half Aaron Ingham had a chance to put Felixstowe in front when his shot went just past the post.  A few minutes later the same player scored from a good shot giving Meeking-Hall the St Osyth’s keeper no chance.  1-0. Not long after Felixstowe went 2-0 up when the persistence of Ingham forced a bad back pass from the St Osyth defence which resulted in Ingham slotting the ball past the keeper to make it 2-0.  By now Felixstowe were putting St Osyths under a lot of pressure and they were rarely getting out of their own half.  Rowgowski should have made it three but a really brave save from the keeper kept it out.
Rowgowski
again causing trouble down the right sent a super ball across the face of the goal and Harrison coming in on the far post could only see his shot saved by the keeper which was put out for a corner.  Just before the final whistle Hunn for Felixstowe had a fine shot after a good run which went just over the bar.  Felixstowe performed much better in the second half and were unlucky not to add to the score line. Final score 2-0.
The Seasiders progress to the quarter finals where will play at Brightlingsea United at home.

Saturday 12th February 2005 - ESBL
Rowhedge United 4 - 3 Felixstowe & Walton United Res. (3-2)

Felixstowe :- Algar, Jacobs, Burton, Orford (Wiggins), Kyle, Morgan, Wyard (Anderson), Morgan, Harrison (Gray), Ingham, Pugh, Rogowski

With a strong wind to their backs Rowhedge scored three goals inside the first fifteen minutes before taking their foot off the pedal. Pugh replied twice for the Seasiders before the break but the visitors could not make the wind count in the second half and despite Pugh completing his hat-trick the home scored a fourth to claim the points.
Kyle returning from injury went into defence and Ingham making his first start was named in attack.
Rowhedge won the toss and elected to take wind advantage in the first half and were ahead after only three minutes when Alexis Jones rose unchallenged to head home from Robertson's corner. Felixstowe responded and Beeson in the home saved well at his near post at the expense of a corner. Rowhedge doubled their lead on eight minutes when once again poor marking enabled Daniel Fisher to have a clean strike at the ball following a long throw that was not adequately dealt with.
On fifteen minutes the game looked over as Joe Holland reacted first when Jones' shot came back off the post and fired the ball home from close range. The Seasiders dug deep and with Morgan's prompting from midfield slowly got their passing game together.
Shaun Pugh scored from distance on the left to reduce the arrears on the half hour and the discipline of the home side began to waiver from that point until the interval. Injury time before the break saw Morgan find Shaun Pugh with a precise pass from midfield and Pugh outpaced the home defence to score.

Despite territorial advantage scoring opportunities were scarce for the Seasiders after the break with Rogowski's corner, which nearly found the net at the far post, the closest to producing the equaliser. Rowhedge broke on 72 minutes and the ball reached Wayne Macklin in space on the edge of the area and his well placed shot found the back of the net despite the efforts of Orford to keep it out.
Rogowski saw his well placed free kick saved at the foot of a post before Shaun Pugh completed his hat-trick on ninety minutes as he used his paced once again to run on and score. Felixstowe went in search of a point but time ran out and Rowhedge held on for a deserved win.

Saturday 5th February 2005 - ESBL
Glemsford & Cavendish United 2 - 2 Felixstowe & Walton United  (1-1)

Felixstowe :- Pitts, Jacobs, Wiggins (Ingham), Milbourne, Burton, Orford, Morgan, Gray, Rogowski, Harrison, Pugh.

Bowes
opened the scoring for Glemsford in the first minute of an entertaining game which saw both sides committed to attack. Three minutes later Pugh equalised and despite the game flowing end to end it was the seventy sixth minute before the home side scored again through Martin. A bullet header from Morgan brought the sides level with a minute remaining and Morgan saw a second header fly over the bar in injury time, with the draw a fair result on the day.
With Wyard injured in the warm up mid-week signing Milbourne was named in the starting eleven with Ingham on the bench.
The home side were first on the attack with the lively Bowes capitalising on a defensive error on the edge of the visitors area after only second sixty seconds to lift the ball over the stranded Pitts for the opening goal of the game.
Felixstowe were quick to counter and on four minutes it was all square. Rogowski captured the ball in midfield and found the willing Pugh with a telling pass. Pugh ran on to fire the ball under the diving Smith in the home goal.
A goal fest looked in prospect but both defences tightened with Milbourne and Burton solid at the back for the visitors and Adams and Curran keeping things tight for the home side. Pitts saved well to deny Wager and Milbourne blocked a fierce shot from Curran, at considerable personal pain (ouch!), as the home side pushed forward.
Felixstowe finished the half strongly with Pugh striking a post and Rogowski  also seeing his shot striking  an upright before Smith bravely dived at his feet to block the rebound.

Adams blocked Rogowski's goal bound shot at the expense of a corner shortly after the restart as the game continued to flow from end to end with Jacob's coming to the aid of his keeper to clear off the line to deny the busy Martin.
With the fitness of the young Felixstowe side beginning to tell the Seasiders pushed forward in numbers but without testing Smith in the home goal. On 76 minutes Glemsford regained the lead after Felixstowe gave the ball away in midfield. Partridge broke away and despite Burton making a telling tackle Martin retrieved the loose ball and slotted home.
Ingham, Pugh and Rogowski all went close but the home side looked to be holding on until Morgan provided a moment of pure quality a minute from time.
Harrison's corner was driven in accurately from the left and Morgan met the ball in full flight at the near post to powerfully head home the equaliser.
The same combination nearly produced the winner seconds later but that would have been cruel on the hosts after an entertaining and evenly contested game.

Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 1 - 0 Great Bentley (0-0)

Felixstowe :- Pitts, Wiggins, Jacobs, Grey, Anderson, Burton, Orford, Rogowski, Djan,(Ryan) Tomiak, and Harrison (Rodwell)
Felixstowe started the game with a reshuffled pack with injuries and call offs the order of the day. Rogowski moved into midfield Burton into the defence. Bentley had the first attack and forced a corner that came to nothing then Rogowski for Felixstowe shot over the bar. Most of the game was now mainly in midfield with both sides trying to take the game to each other on what was a very heavy pitch. It was not until the 25th minute that a keeper had to make a save when French for Bentley caused problems down the right and his shot/cross was smartly saved by Pitts in the Felixstowe goal. Then Turner and French for Bentley had shots with the latter forcing Pitts to save. Felixstowe then had their best spell of the game when Harrison floated in a free kick which found Rogowski just inside the box, he controlled well and shot only to see it go just past the far post with  Ball in the Bentley goal well beaten. A good move down the left saw Djan cross and Rogowski having another shot that went wide. Bentley had the last attack of the half with French’s shot being well saved by Pitts.  HT 0.0

The second half started as the first finished with both sides looking lively, Pitts saving from Barrett  and  Rogowski shooting over the bar down the other end.  Then D Grey for Bentley forced Pitts to parry a good shot. Then Oldhamstead for Bentley was clean through and just as he was about to shoot Jacob’s came in and made a suburb tackle to clear the danger. Felixstowe went ahead in the 59th minute when Tomiak was fouled in the box and Harrison converted from the spot 1.0. Bentley made three quick substitutions and put Felixstowe under a lot of pressure but the defence and midfield held firm for 3 much needed points. This was a much improved performance against a very well organised side who have only conceded 15 goals this season. Full time 1.0

Saturday 15th January 2005 - ESBL
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 0 - 6 Boxted Lodgers (0-3)

Felixstowe: - Algar, Gray, Anderson, Wyard, (Djan), Jacobs, Harrison, Fenn, (Ryan), Hudson, Tomiak, Burton and Pugh.
This must go down as one of the most disjointed performances I have seen by the reserves in my time with them. In the first half we found ourselves 1 0 down within the first five minutes.  Pugh for Felixstowe hit the post but almost from then you could see it was not going to be our day. A hotly disputed free kick to the visitors just outside the Felixstowe box put us 2 down. Just before half time a bad defensive error cost us another goal and we went in at half time 3 0 down.

We came out in the second half determined to salvage some pride but within five minutes we lost Wyard with an injury and shortly after that we conceded again 4 0 down. By now our heads were down and really we were just going through the motions. Boxted then had their manager sent off and Harrison for Felixstowe went a few minutes later for a second bookable offence. We conceded two more goals, the last one being an own goal.  This just about summed up our day final score 6 0 to Boxted.

Steve Hall a regular in the reserves this year went into hospital on Friday for an operation on his ankle. I would like to wish him a speedy recovery from all at Felixstowe and Walton Football Club.

Saturday 8th January 2005 - ESBL
Witham Town Reserves  3 - 1   Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  (0-1)
Felixstowe:- Algar, Jacobs, Hall, Wyard, Wiggins, Harrison (Rodewell), Gray, Tomiak, Djan, Burton (Ryan), Fenn.

Felixstowe kicked off with a strong wind blowing across the field so neither team had the advantage of the wind.  Felixstowe had the early pressure within three minutes of the start when Felixstowe were awarded a corner which Harrison took and King Djan had a free header to put Felixstowe in front.  0-1.
This shocked the home team and for the next few minutes put Felixstowe under pressure.  In the 14th minute Felixstowe had a bit of a scare when Witham, from a corner, had the ball cleared off the line by Gray.  Witham for the next few minutes put Felixstowe under pressure but never really threatened Algar in the Felixstowe goal.  In the 19th minute Burton had a shot for Felixstowe past the post.  In the 25th minute Felixstowe were awarded a free kick which was floated in by Harrison and again Burton headed past the post.  In the 30th minute Algar made a super save at the feet of a Witham striker.  Witham then gained a corner which Drennan for Witham headed over the bar.  At the end of the half Felixstowe had another free kick, Harrison again crossed the ball and Djan was unlucky with the header which Snelling in the Witham goal saved well. Half time 0-1.

The second half started with Witham piling on the pressure.  But for all their possession they never threatened the Felixstowe goal as Algar hardly touched the ball.  The Felixstowe defence of Wiggins, Hall, Wyard and Jacobs and Gray, who played just in front, were absolutely superb and never put a foot wrong.  In the 85th minute Witham had a break and broke through to score.  1-1.  Two minutes later it looked like the defence had held out again when what looked like a miss kick from the Witham striker on the edge of the box, dropped over Algar into the net giving Algar no chance to save.  2-1.  In the last remaining minutes Felixstowe were pressing for an equaliser when Witham broke away to score a third.  3-1.  Although Witham had lots of pressure both teams must be congratulated on producing a good entertaining game of football. Possibly Felixstowe were a little unlucky and the score line flattered Witham.

Saturday 18th December 2004 - ESBL
Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  1 - 0  Witham Town Reserves (1-0)
Felixstowe:- Algar, Jacobs, Hall, Anderson, Wyard, Tomiak, Grey, Burton,(Leeson), Rogowski, Morgan, and Harrison.(Fenn)  Subs:-Leeson, Fenn, and Djan

It was good to be playing at home, as we had been on our travels for the last 7 weeks and what a game we had to look forward to. Felixstowe fourth from bottom after a couple of poor results, take on a free scoring Witham side who are sitting on top of the
table, Witham started the stronger of the two sides as they passed the ball round  very well. But all their possession did not cause Algar in the Felixstowe goal any real problems as the Felixstowe defence held firm. It was not until the 25th minute that Felixstowe had their first shot by Rogowski, which Long in the Witham goal dealt with comfortably, Felixstowe started to get their game together and in the 35th minute took the lead a when well taken corner from the right by Harrison fell to Chris Rogowski and from about 18 yards gave Long in the Witham goal no chance with a low shot into the far corner of the net 1 . 0 to Felixstowe. Witham were awarded a free kick about 35 yards out, as the ball was knocked into the box they could only manage a tame shot well over the bar. Half time 1-0

Felixstowe started the second half in a very determined mood  and should have gone further ahead, a lovely ball in the box by Harrison, put Burton through but he delayed his shot and gave a Witham defender time to steal the ball off his feet and knock out for a corner. Felixstowe were now frustrating the visitors and were restricting them to long range shots Newson had a shot well over the bar, Ansell  also had a shot that Algar in the home goal had no problem with, and Newson put another past the post. In a rare Felixstowe attack saw Long in the visitors goal deal with a shot from Burton, by now Witham were knocking long balls into the Felixstowe half in search of the equaliser. They did get five corners but all came to nothing, then in the 85th minute a goal mouth scramble almost saw them draw level  but a good interception by Jacobs cleared the danger. Full time 1.0. The defence of Hall, Anderson, Wyard, and Jacobs were superb  and protected Algar in the Felixstowe goal very well. The midfield worked their socks off and never stopped running and Rogowski held the ball up and took his goal very well.

Saturday 11th December 2004 - ESBL
Bradfield Rovers  3 - 2  Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  (0-1)

Felixstowe:- Pitts, Jacobs,(
Harrison), Tomiak, Anderson, Wyard, Leeson, Gray, Hall, Burton, Rogowski, and Fenn.(Orford). Subs:- Harrison, Orford, and Wiggins
Felixstowe had the first real attack of the game when Rogowski had a good shot but Whiddet in the Bradfield goal was equal to it and saved well. A few minutes later Bradfield won two corners in quick succession, the first Sage headed over the bar from a good position, the second came to nothing. There was good build up play down the left between Rogowski & Jacobs for Felixstowe but the final ball in to the box was poor. Felixstowe should have taken the lead midway in the half when Tomiak tried to force the ball over the line after a goal mouth scramble but unfortunately the ball was cleared off the line by a Bradfield defender. A few minutes later Felixstowe took the lead when Gray sent a long ball into the box which
Burton controlled well and turned and shot, giving the visitors a deserved lead. Felixstowe continued to have the better of the play but could not add to their score. HT 0-1

The second half started badly for Felixstowe and from being 1-0 up at half time found themselves 3-1 down. Felixstowe did pull one back in the last 10 minutes when Rogowski sent in a fine ball in to the box for Burton to score his second of the game. 3-2. This  seemed to lift Felixstowe and with only 3 or 4 minutes remaining Tomiak for Felixstowe had a super shot from about 18 yards with the home keeper well beaten only to see his shot cleared off the line by some acrobatic defending, final score 3-2.

Saturday 27th November 2004 - ESBL
Boxted Lodgers  5 - 1  Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  (2-0)
Team: Pitts, Hall, Tomiak,
Harrison, Jacobs, Anderson, Fenn, Burton, Ryan, Gray and Thurston  Subs: Willett, Donnally, Rodwell.
Felixstowe started the game well and looked the better of the two sides in the first ten minutes with Tomiak for Felixstowe finishing off a fine move with a shot just the wrong side of the post. The game then went into a battle in the midfield with neither side creating any clear chances. Then in the 28th minute Boxted took the lead with a mistimed header in the Felixstowe defence leaving the home striker free on goal giving Pitts in the Felixstowe goal no chance.
Almost from the restart
Harrison for Felixstowe went down the left and put in a good cross and Tomiak getting on the end off it, but his header was just over the bar. It was then down to the other end with Boxted getting a corner that produced a good header from the home striker, and a fine save from Pitts in the Felixstowe goal. With about 5 minutes left Boxted were awarded a free kick about 35 yards out  and the resulting shot saw the ball go through Pitts’ legs for Boxted’s second 2-0. Felixstowe finished the half  two goals down and both coming from silly mistakes. H.T. 2.0.

In the second half Felixstowe introduced Willett,  Donnally, and Rodwell all from the very successful under 18 side, the latter two plus Thurston were making their debut’s for the reserves. Felixstowe went on to concede three more goals. The only consolation was a penalty that was converted by Andy Gray.  This was a very poor performance by Felixstowe in stark contrast to the previous week when they played very well. F.T. 5.1

Saturday 20th November 2004 - Suffolk Junior Cup 3rd Round
Saint Edmunds 1965  4 - 4  Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  after extra time
St. Edmunds won 5-4 on penalties
Team: Algar, Tomiak, Wyard, Hall, Anderson, Grey, Fenn, Harrison, Leeson, Burton and Cook.  Subs: Orford ,Willett. and Ryan
Almost from the kick off Tomiak for Felixstowe  had a shot which Taylor in the home goal saved well. Edmunds were awarded a free kick out on the left and from the cross Sanders headed over the bar. Soon after, Scarfe for Edmunds shot across the goal and past the far post, Edmunds then got a corner from the resulting cross Sanders header was well saved by Algar in the Felixstowe goal, Soon after Cox should have put Edmunds in front but his free header at the far post went over the bar. In the 14th minute Felixstowe went ahead against the run of play a good move down the left saw Cook for Felixstowe cross and  Burton with his left, sidefoot the ball home 0-1 to Felixstowe. The goal seemed to settle Felixstowe down and they started to play some good football, Algar produced a good save to deny Edmunds the equalizer, Leeson for Felixstowe then had a shot well saved by the home keeper in the 40th minute Edmunds  got a corner and as the ball was being played out of the Felixstowe penalty area the ball stuck in the mud and Sanders for Edmunds shot giving Algar in the visitors goal no chance 1-1. Felixstowe immediately went down the other end and Harrison’s shot was well blocked by the home keeper. Ht 1-1

Early in the second half Steve Jacobs, the Felixstowe Manager, made two substitutions Orford on for Hall and Willitt for Cook. Edmunds took the lead from a corner when Turner put the ball home 2-1. This stunned Felixstowe into action and from a lovely move down the right saw them draw level, Orford sent a good through ball for Burton to  shoot past the advancing keeper 2-2. Soon after Felixstowe took the lead with a fine move when Leeson flicked the ball on and was well finished off with Tomiak giving the home keeper no chance with a good shot 2-3. With only a few minutes remaining a mistake by Harrison, when he failed to clear the danger, allowing Plumb for Edmunds plant the ball in the net, 3-3. Burton for Felixstowe had a 20 yarder just past the post. Full time 3-3

In the first half of extra time  Turner put the home side ahead with a shot 4-3 but Felixstowe did not give up and drew level when Ryan flicked the ball on for Tomiak to score his second goal of the game 4-4. Full time score 4-4.
Taylor in the home side goal pulled off a fine save from Orford’s penalty to give St Edmunds the game on penalty’s  5-4 Good luck to them in the next round.

Saturday 30th October 2004 - ESBL
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 2 - 4 Woodbridge Town Res. (0-2)

Woodbridge kicked off and with their first attack scored with a good passing move down the left. 0-1.
It
took Felixstowe a few minutes to get their game together and they slowly started to put pressure on the Woodbridge goal. Felixstowe then had two corners one after the other which came to nothing. They were then awarded a free kick about 30 yards out and Harrison’s shot was turned over the bar by Garnham the Woodbridge keeper.  From the resulting corner the ball was cleared by the defence and Morgan could only volley the ball over the bar.
A couple of minutes later a shot by Anderson for Felixstowe went over the bar.  Woodbridge then went on the counter attack with Shemmings having a good shot just over the bar.  At the other end a good ball in by Jacobs saw Morgan again having a shot which the keeper blocked on the line.  A good ball by Hall for Felixstowe saw Morgan have another shot again off the line.  It was then down to the other end to see Algar the Felixstowe keeper turn the resulting shot round the post for a Woodbridge corner.  Against the run of play, in the 36th minute, Woodbridge sent the ball into the box which unfortunately was deflected for an own goal by Anderson giving Algar no chance in the Felixstowe goal.  0-2.  In the 38th minute a good move down the right for Felixstowe saw Gray’s shot just fly over the bar.  Half time 0-2.

The second half started almost as dramatically as the first when Felixstowe’s sub Orford, on for Jacobs, sent a good through ball for Burton only to be brought down in the box for a penalty for Felixstowe.  Harrison stepped up to give the keeper no chance with the penalty.  1-2.  A few minutes later Felixstowe had a good chance when Harrison sent a corner over from the left only to see Kyle head the ball wide of the near post.
Another good attack from Felixstowe saw Orford send a nice pass to Burton whose shot was just wide.  On a rare attack from Woodbridge, Laidlow had a good shot which was also just wide.  Woodbridge then had another attack which saw Wyard challenge well in the box to clear the ball from the danger area.  A few minutes later Felixstowe were back on terms, with Burton whose hard running and persistence was rewarded with a goal when he ran clear with only the keeper to beat and just slotted the ball past him.  2-2
Felixstowe
then sent on Tomiak for Ellwood.  Shortly after that Burton had a shot which produced a lovely save from Garnham in the Woodbridge goal to deny Felixstowe the lead.  Again against the run of play Laidlow for Woodbridge went down the left and sent in a cross which Algar the keeper went to collect but unfortunately the ball fell through his hands and went into the net.  2-3.  This did not deter Felixstowe as they again laid siege on the Woodbridge goal.
Kyle for Felixstowe headed across the goal only for Tomiak to head just over the bar.  The Woodbridge keeper then made two absolutely superb saves in quick succession, firstly from Morgan which was parried and secondly from Harrison which the keeper turned round the post for a corner. The corner was sent in and cleared by the Woodbridge defence only for Morgan for Felixstowe to have a shot that took a wicked deflection off the Woodbridge defender for the keeper to make another great save to turn in over the bar.
Woodbridge then went to the other end and Shemmings had a shot that hit the bar. For about the last 10 minutes it seemed all Felixstowe and again against the run of play Woodbridge broke in the remaining minutes for Kelly to make it 2-4 for Woodbridge.  Felixstowe did not deserve to lose this game but all credit to the Woodbridge keeper who had an outstanding game.

Saturday 23rd October  - Suffolk Junior Cup
Grundisburgh Reserves  1  - 2   Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  (0-1)
Felixstowe Res: Algar, Leeson, Wyard, Gray, Anderson, Hall, Orford, Harrison, Ellwood, Burton, Jacobs.  Subs: Cook, Wiggins and Tomiak.
Grundisburgh
had the first shot of the game on target which Algar in the Felixstowe goal dealt with comfortably, they were back again a few minutes later with another good effort just past the post. In the 10th min a free kick for Felixstowe saw Ellwood shoot on target but Gill in the Grundisburgh goal saved well. It was back down the other end for a free kick from about 35 yards out on the left which saw the ball floated in for a Grundisburgh header which went over the bar.  In the 15th min Harrison for Felixstowe could only watch his shot go narrowly past the post. Felixstowe came under pressure and conceded two free kicks which came to nothing.  In the 23rd min Felixstowe went ahead against the run of play from a corner in which Harrison floated an in-swinger into the box which Gill the goal keeper could only parry into his own net.  0-1. In the 25th min Felixstowe had another good effort when Burton crossed to Ellwood whose shot went past the post.  Soon after this Ellwood was substituted by Tomiak because of injury.  Felixstowe seemed to pick up their game at this point and in the 31st min a lovely shot by Harrison from 25 yards saw the keeper palm it over the bar for a corner.  Things were looking a little better for Felixstowe.  In the 38th min a good cross from Grundisburgh was well collected by Algar, the Felixstowe keeper, while under pressure.  In the 42nd min a lovely through ball from Harrison unfortunately caught the Felixstowe forwards just off side.  In the 44th min Tomiak played a lovely ball in but Burton could only head it into the keeper’s arms.  Half-time 0-1.

For the first 10 mins no one really got to grips with the game but Grundisburgh gained the first advantage from a corner when they had a free header to the far post which went wide. In the 60th min Grundisburgh had a free kick which produced a good save from Algar.  In the 72nd min Felixstowe had two corners which came to nothing.  In the 75th min Felixstowe got a free kick just outside the box, the ball was floated in and  Anderson for Felixstowe bravely headed the ball across goal for Wyard to head against the cross bar from close range.   The resulting attack saw Anderson come off for treatment with a cut to the eye.  While he was off the pitch Grundisburgh went straight down to the other end. A good cross saw Algar parry to save but a Grundisburgh forward popped in to score.  1-1. In the 83rd min Wyard had a good shot which the keeper saved well. Felixstowe sent on Cook for Harrison who almost immediately caused problems for Grundisburgh with a shot which went just wide.  In the 84th min a Felixstowe free kick from about 25 yards saw Leeson step up and send a cracking low shot skidding along the ground, through the wall and under the keeper’s body to put Felixstowe ahead. 1-2. Shortly afterwards Burton did everything right by rounding the keeper but could only watch as he rolled the ball goalwards to see it scrape the outside post.  The keeper was well beaten.  In the 46th min Toop for Grundisburgh had a good shot which Algar saved well.  After 8 minutes of injury time the game finished with Felixstowe the worthy winners.
 Full time 1-2.

On an interesting note Andy Gray for Felixstowe was playing against his elder brother Stephen, which saw some interesting challenges between them.

Saturday 16th October 2004 - ESBL
Gas Rec, Reserves  3 - 2  Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 2 (3-1)

Felixstowe kicked off and immediately lost possession and for the first 4 mins never got into the oppositions half.  Gas had the first shot but it was off target.  Almost immediately afterwards there was a scare for Felixstowe when a header crossed the goal from the Gas forward, which just clipped the crossbar.  Felixstowe started to get their game together and Burton for Felixstowe had a shot turned round the post by Brooks the Gas keeper.  Wiggins, for Felixstowe, then had a shot that hit the keeper on the chest and went for a corner.  From the corner Burton headed just over the bar.  In the 9th min Wiggins for Felixstowe crossed from the left and Ashley Orford coming in on the far post deservedly put Felixstowe ahead with a header.  In the 15th minute Burton for Felixstowe had a good shot but could only watch it go past the far post.  Gas at the other end were awarded a free kick which resulted in nothing.  At the 25 minute stage Wiggins for Felixstowe had a shot that the Gas keeper could only parry.  This had been a good spell for Felixstowe.  In the 27th minute Wyard for Felixstowe defended under pressure in the sixth yard box collecting the ball and coolly controlling it to prevent Gas from scoring.  Three minute later Gas caused Felixstowe enormous pressure when there was a big goal mouth scramble resulting in the ball being knocked over the bar for a corner.  In the 32nd minute Gas had a free kick from about 30 yards, Warner took the kick for Gas and Algar in the Felixstowe goal could not prevent the shot from going into the net. 1-1. Two minutes later Warner again for Gas had a shot just over the bar. West then put Gas 2-1 up and within a minute were 3-1 up when West again popped up with a header.  Not a good spell for Felixstowe.  Felixstowe finished the half with Burton having a shot which resulted in nothing. Half time 3-1
Leeson started the second half for Felixstowe replacing Wyard through injury.  In
about 55 minutes Jacobs for Felixstowe had a good shot which went just over the bar.  Djan replaced Wiggins for Felixstowe in 58th minute.  Gas had two good shots from Cowen and Stephenson which Algar in the Felixstowe goal dealt with comfortably.  In the 65th minute Leeson had a cheeky shot from the half way line which went over the bar.  Felixstowe then had a free kick awarded about 20 yards out, Andy Leeson took the kick giving the keeper no chance with a powerful shot. 3-2. Tomiak on for Orford for Felixstowe.
In the final stages Felixstowe put Gas under pressure but could not force an equaliser and played the last 10 minutes with 10 men when Elwood was sent off for dissent.  Felixstowe played well for most of the game and did not deserve to lose.

Final score 3-2.

Saturday 9th October 2004 - ESBL
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 1 - 0 Alresford Reserves (1-0)

Alresford had the first real attack in the fourth minute with a long throw which resulted in the ball being put out for a corner.  The corner resulted in Alresford heading over the bar.  Alresford had control for the first part of the game.  But against the run of play Burton, for Felixstowe, caused the Alresford defence to make a couple of errors which resulted in him picking up the loose ball which came off the keeper and slotting it into the net.  1-0.
The next few minutes saw Alresford apply more pressure and in the 22nd minute Neme had a good shot just over the bar.  At the other end a good through ball from Ellwood came to nothing when Felixstowe were caught just offside.
In the 32nd minute Alresford shot just over the bar from about 20 yards.
In the 39th minute Felixstowe had a free kick from just outside the Alresford box, Wyard shot but hit the wall got the rebound but the keeper easily saved.  In the 42nd another good attack from Felixstowe saw Orford for Felixstowe square the ball for Ellwood to strike a lovely shot which hit the post.  In the following minute a great ball from Rogowski for Felixstowe put Burton through but as the keeper advanced Burton tried to lob the keeper unfortunately the ball was just over the bar.  This was probably Felixstowe’s best spell of the game.  Half time 1-0

Right from the kick off Alresford got the ball in Felixstowe’s box and had a good appeal for a penalty turned down. It then continued with no real goal mouth action, most of the play was centred in the mid field with both teams trying to gain control.  There were one or two free kicks which resulted in nothing for both teams.  Both goal keepers had very little to do in this half.  In the 69th minute Alresford gave Felixstowe a bit of a scare when they sent over a corner and the ball was knocked down in the six yard box and scrambled away by the Felixstowe defence.  In the closing stages of the game Alresford had a good attack stemmed by Rogowski when the striker was just about to shoot which resulted in Rogowski calmly taking the ball off the strikers foot.  This went for a corner.  The corner came to nothing.  A good pass from Ellwood for Felixstowe saw substitute Djan just lob the keeper with the ball going over the bar.  A few seconds later saw the same player’s shot go into the side netting.

Although Felixstowe got the three points it was a game where they did not play as well as they have in recent weeks but another clean sheet was nice to see as the defence played very well with Alresford having more of the possession in the game.  The only sad aspect was that the game was marred with 8 bookings, 5 for Felixstowe which is out of character as it wasn’t a dirty game.

Saturday 2nd October 2004 - ESBL
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 4 - 0 Rowhedge Reserves (1-0)
Rowhedge had the better of the early exchanges and it wasn’t until the eighth minute that Felixstowe’s game started to show fluency as Pugh shot into the side netting and Harrison saw his shot go past a post.
The Seasider's first shot on target was in the eleventh minute from Jacobs with the Rowhedge keeper saving well.  Felixstowe were now pushing forward more and in the fifteenth minute a free kick from near the half way line resulted in Wyard’s header going just wide.  Just before the half hour mark a cross from Pugh found Burton and his shot was turned round the post for a corner. The corner was whipped in and Wyard saw his header cleared off the line by a Rowhedge defender.
Felixstowe went ahead on 36 minutes when a good through ball by Harrison found Shaun Pugh in space and with precision he shot low past the advancing Rowhedge keeper into the far corner of the net. Fines minutes later Pickering had a header just wide and a good run and cross by Harrison resulted in Pugh having another shot well saved by the Rowhedge keeper. By know Algar in the Felixstowe goal had hardly touched the ball but was called into action for the first time in the 41st minute when he dived to save at the feet of a Rowhedge forward. HT 1-0.

Felixstowe kicked off the second half and got a corner straight away that came to nothing. A 46th minute shot by Rowhedge was well saved by Algar, at the other end a cross by Pugh saw Rogowski’s header go wide.  Felixstowe went further ahead in the 54th minute when Pugh crossed, Rogowski headed back across goal and Simon Harrison headed home.
Even though Rowhedge were 2-0 down they were putting Felixstowe under pressure with their best spell of the game and in the 65th minute the visitors were unlucky not to pull one back with a good delivery from a corner resulting in the ball being headed just wide. Rogowski send over a good cross from the left only to see Burton in a good position head over from close range and shortly after Felixstowe went further ahead, a poor clearance was headed out only to be picked up by Shaun Pugh on the edge of the box whose shot crept under the keeper’s body.  Seven minutes from time a Rowhedge forward found himself clean through with only the keeper to beat but an excellent challenge from Wyard cleared the danger. In the last min of the game Felixstowe went 4-0 up after a corner from the left saw Adam Pickering round off a fine game with a well deserved goal. Another good all round performance from Felixstowe in what was a very entertaining game.

Saturday 25th September  - Suffolk Junior Cup
Sproughton Sports  1  - 2   Felixstowe & Walton United Res.  (1-0)
Ben Wyard scored two late goals to see the Seasiders through to the next round of the Suffolk Junior Cup.

For the first 30 minutes it was one way traffic with Felixstowe having all the play, with shots from  Jacobs, Gibbs, Wyard, Djan and Burton all going wide. However, it was not until the 32 minute that the home keeper was called into action making a finger tip save from a  Jacobs 20 yarder. In the 40th minute against the run of play Sproughton took the lead when Pitts could only parry a long range shot and Bloomfield was the first to react with a simple tap in. Probably the best chance of the half for Felixstowe fell to  Djan who shot over the bar from about 6 yards out. Jacobs who had a lively first half ended the half with a shot just past the post.   Half time 1.0 to the home side.

The second half started with Sproughton having much more of the play. In the 60th minute Steve Jacobs sent on Harrison for Djan. From a free kick just outside the box  Pitts turned the resulting shot over the bar.  This seemed to spur Felixstowe into action with Hall's shot from close range bringing a super save from the home keeper. Another substitution saw Gray come on for Orford. In the 80th minute Felixstowe made it all square, Gibbs sent over a free kick from the left and Ben Wyard got the final touch to head home. Within 4 minutes Felixstowe took the lead when a corner from the left by Gibbs was headed home by Ben Wyard at the far post.
Keeper Steven Pitts, Mark Anderson, Adam Pickering and Ben Wyard all had a good game in defence, midfield of Ashley Orford, Steven Hall, Carl Gibbs, Dan Fenn and Ross Jacobs never let up. Up front Will Burton and King Djan gave the home defence a hard time.  The three substitutes Simon Harrison, Andy Gray and Michael Wiggins all played a part in what was an entertaining game.

Saturday 4th September  - ESBL
Kelvedon Social Res. 0 - 5 Felixstowe & Walton United Res. (0-4)
The Reserves avenged their opening day defeat at the the hands of the Essex side with two goals each for Gabriel and Rogowski as the Seasiders dominated the first half. Hall completed a comprehensive win when he fired home from Jacob's cross fifteen minutes from time.
A sunny warm afternoon for the Reserves third outing against a Kelvedon side this season. Following defeat in the opening league game against the Reserves and Penalties seeing the Kelvedon first team through in the league Cup, the Seasiders were keen to redress the balance on a bumpy pitch at Kelvedon this afternoon.
The first opening of the game fell to Flowers who shot wide for the home team in the first minute before the visitors took a hold on the game that they did not look likely to relinquish. A diagonal ball into the Kelvedon area on 12 minutes eluded the home defence allowing Ross Gabriel to pounce and slot home with confidence. Gabriel could have had a first half hat trick as the nimble Seasiders ripped through the home defence. Pugh excelled down the left with Referee Daniel Cook allowing good advantage on 26 minutes as Pugh to continued his run into the area and squared for Chris Rogowski to net from six yards.
Jack Sibley in the home goal, playing his third game against the Seasiders, saved well after Gabriel ran through a static defence to shoot but the ball rebounded to Chris Rogowski who headed home his second.
A mazey run from Pugh resulted in the fourth goal on 42 minutes as he passed the ball from an acute angle for Ross Gabriel to tap in from close range.
Frost stood out for the home side as he prompted his team forward with Anderson and Catain Andy Gray ensuring that Kai Algar in the visitors goal saw little of the ball.

After the break the game lost it's shape and Warboys lost his discipline as the home side were reduced to ten players as he was dismissed for foul play. The Seasiders failed to take full advantage of the superiority in numbers but the job was done. The highlight of the second period was Ross Jacob's performance down the left hand side including an excellent run and cross met by Steven Hall for the fifth and final goal.

Wednesday 25th August - ESBL League Cup
Felixstowe & Walton United Reserves 5 - 5 Kelvedon Social (4-3)
Kelvedon won 3-1 on penalties aet.
A night of high drama at Dellwood Avenue with penalties needed to decide the winners.
The Seasiders raced into a three goal lead after only 21 minutes through Ashlee Elwood, Ross Gabriel and Shaun Pugh. Incredibly within seven minutes it was all square with Ross Wilson scoring twice and Gareth Dawson scoring direct from a free kick. Shaun Pugh rifled home his second to put the home side back in front at the break.
Within five minutes of the restart it was all level again with Craig Duncan scoring for the visitors with a shot from the edge of the area. Three minutes later the Seasiders were back in front again as Liam Hunn met Ellwood's cross six yards out to steer the ball home. Just as Felixstowe looked to be holding on for the win Damien Frost popped up to fire home a free kick from the edge of the area.
Into extra time and surprisingly, despite chances at both ends in the now driving rain, the score was not increased.
Penalties were needed to decide the game with Kelvedon converting three of their four attempts against the Seasiders one.
A stirring cup tie - and we wish Kelvedon every success in the next round.
