Match Report
Wednesday 3rd May
Ridgeons Reserve League Championship play-off
Played @ Whitton United F.C.
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 3 - 1 AFC Sudbury Res. (1-1)
Felixstowe:- Ryan, Parry,
D Carnell, Morgan, Milbourne, A Carnell, Hammond (Hall), M Buckle, Crump, Snell
(Leeson), Pugh (Spurling) unused subs:- Wyard, Tomiak
A goal down within
two minutes, following Steve Day's early strike,
and unable to gain
possession of the ball in the opening stages it looked like
being a long night for the Seasiders.
Gradually Felixstowe gained a hold on the game and Glenn
Snell equalised just after the half hour to put the Reserves back in
contention.
Glenn Snell completed his hat-trick in the second
half to claim the man-of-match award and see Felixstowe end the game worthy
winners.
The curtain came down on an excellent and exciting
season with the Reserves lifting the Reserve league Championship Trophy. The
competition in
it's first season has been a huge success and the Ridgeons League Officers
should receive full credit for organising the league so successfully.
The teams entered the field together to be presented to League President Malcolm
Nunn and other Officials, with the Seasiders supporters in good voice and number
in the crowd of over 100.
Having won the Northern section it looked a tall
order to overcome the Champions of the Southern Division AFC Sudbury, with the
task
looking
more unlikely after only two minutes as top marksman Steve
Day turned well in the area to fire past Ryan in the Felixstowe goal
pictured. The experienced Sudbury side overwhelmed the young Felixstowe team
in the opening fifteen minutes with the Seasiders unable to gain possession and
Ryan having to save well with his feet at the expense of a corner to keep them
in the game
Buckle and Morgan working hard in midfield gradually gained ball time and with
willing
runners
in Snell and Pugh started to pose a threat on the Sudbury goal. Marlow made a
number of good saves to deny Snell and Crump with Howe clearing off the line to
prevent Crump from scoring. Just after the half hour Glen
Snell produced the equaliser left with a well placed shot under
Marlow following another quick break.
Both sides could have taken the lead before the
break as Jones shot wide for Sudbury and Crump headed just over the Sudbury
cross bar.
After the break the pace and young legs of Felixstowe
made the difference with Danny and Aaron Carnell along with Captain Milbourne
and Lee Parry defending well to deny Day a clear sight of goal.
Glenn Snell scored his second after 51 minutes
steering the ball home from an acute angle following a through ball from Crump.
The Sudbury defence came under increasing pressure from the speed of Pugh and
on 65 minutes
he linked with Glen Snell who fired home to
complete his hat-trick and put two hands on the trophy.
Day went close with two shots from distance but the Felixstowe side were not to be denied and were overjoyed at the final whistle. Congratulations to Manager Terry Burch and Assistant Dave Wyard who have worked so hard during the season and have always believed in the team.
Many thanks to Whitton United for being excellent hosts.

Walsham le Willows 1 - 1 Felixstowe & Walton United
(1-0)
Felixstowe:- Ryan, Parry,
Carnell D, Morgan (Laws), Milbourne, Carnell A, Hammond, Tomiak, Crump,
Spurling (Spencer), Pugh (Leeson), unused subs:- Wyard, DuPort.
Felixstowe got the point they needed to win the Rigeons North Division Reserve League, against a very strong and well organised Walsham Le Willows side.
The game started very briskly with both sides working hard to gain control, but chances were few and far between. Felixstowe had a couple of half chances that came to nothing. It was Walsham who took a deserved lead in the 34th minute with a well taken goal, 1.0. Felixstowe’s Laws had a good shot blocked just before half time in a half that neither keeper had much to do Half time 1.0.
The second half started with Felixstowe the livelier of the two sides and they equalised in the 60th minute after a goal mouth scramble that resulted in Milbourne putting the ball into the net, 1.1. There were very few chances in the final half hour with both teams playing some good football and both defences looking solid in what was an entertaining game and a fair result.
Saturday 25th March 2006 -
Ridgeons Reserve League North
Felixstowe & Walton United 3 - 3 Woodbridge Town
(0-1)
Felixstowe:-
Ryan, Carnell A, Wyard, Hall,
Milbourne,
Pickering (Carnell D),
Leeson, Buckle, Crump, Pugh, and Hammond. Unused subs:-
Tomiak, Duporte.
Felixstowe played the first of two
games against a very youthful
Woodbridge side. Woodbridge kicked off
and for the first 45 minutes showed Felixstowe how football should be played.
Although Woodbridge had several chances they only went in at half time one goal
up, which was scored in the 24th minute. For the first time this
season Felixstowe were outplayed. Half
time 0-1.
Felixstowe came out much more positive in the second half after a good team
talk at half
time.
Almost straight away Felixstowe should have equalised when Buckle had a good
shot saved by the Woodbridge keeper and from the rebound
Leeson’s shot from the edge of the box cannoned off the post. In the
65th minute, against the run of play, Woodbridge broke away to
score their second of the game. 0-2.
Felixstowe pushed Leeson up front and started to play with two wide
players in Hammond and Pugh and it had an instant effect when Pugh broke down
the left to pull the ball back for Crump to
score. 1-2. Not to be denied Woodbridge again
broke to score making it 1-3.
By now Felixstowe were pushing hard trying to get something out of the game.
In the 72nd minute Leeson picked up
the ball on the edge of the box and struck a firm shot to make it 2-3. Three
minutes later Felixstowe were awarded a penalty when Pugh was brought down in
the box. Buckle stepped up to make it 3-3.
Felixstowe continued to push for the winner but the Woodbridge defence held
firm for a well deserved point. It must be said that Felixstowe twice came
back from a two goal deficit which shows why they are at the top of the
league.
Full time 3-3.

Felixstowe & Walton United
5 - 0 Hadleigh United (3-0)
Felixstowe:- Ryan, Parry,
Wyard, Hall, Carnell.A, Milbourne, Leeson, Buckle, Crump, Spurling (Duporte)
and Pugh.
For the second time in a week Felixstowe put 5 goals past their opposition in a
game that didn’t really live up to expectations. Felixstowe started well but it
was not until the
22nd minute that they had their first real goal scoring chance.
Buckle and Crump combined well to put Spurling
through on goal for Barraclough in the
Hadleigh goal to save bravely from point blank
range. Unfortunately Barraclough was injured as the
ball struck him with great force in the face. He
tried to carry on but had to leave the pitch to get hospital treatment.
In the 32nd minute Crump for Felixstowe had a good chance headed over
and then Pugh also had a shot/cross tipped over the bar by the substitute
keeper. Crump opened the scoring in the 38th
minute when he cleverly lobbed the ball over the advancing keeper. In the 40th
minute a one two between Crump and Buckle resulted in
Buckle scoring the second. Just before half time
Pugh had a shot from about 30 yards that looped over the keeper and into
the net making it 3-0 at half time.
Hadleigh
came out in the second half a bit more determined and were putting Felixstowe
under pressure but never really threatened the goal. They had successive
corners that came to nothing. In the 77th minute Crump hit the
post after a good move and three minutes later Pugh
scored with a good shot making it 4-0. In the 90th minute
Pugh completed his hat trick and Felixstowe got
their fifth with another good shot.
Full Time 5.0
We wish Barraclough well and hope he is back in goal for Hadleigh soon.

5 - 0 Needham Market (3-0)
Felixstowe:- Ryan, Morgan,
Wyard, (Parry), Hall, Crump, Leeson, Edwards,
Bukle, (Laws), Phillips, (Spurling),
Snell and Pugh.
This was a comfortable win for Felixstowe against a young Needham
side. Felixstowe
took
the lead in the 2nd minute through Phillips
and went further ahead in the 23rd minute when Snell flicked the
ball on for Edwards who calmly shot past the
advancing keeper to make it 2.0. In the 40th minute the home team
were awarded a penalty when Pugh was brought down,
Buckle took the kick to make it 3.0 at half time.
Spurling
and Parry came on for Phillips and Wyard, but it
was not until the 70th minute when Spurling
and Snell combined well for the latter to make it
4.0 to Felixstowe. Felixstowe completed the scoring in the 85th
minute when Parry found Spurling with
a good through ball down the right whose cross
found Snell to score his second of the game and
Felixstowe’s 5th.

Andy Crump
scores a hat-trick at the Millfield as the Seasiders stay top the Table.
Felixstowe:-
Ryan, Carnell D, Wyard, Hall,
Milbourne (Parry), Carnell A, Buckle M, Laws (Tomiak), Crump,
Spencer (Leeson), Pugh.
On a lovely
sunny but cold afternoon the Table Topping Reserves travelled to Hadleigh, minus
Terry's Assistant who was off to London to see Frank Sinatra. He was so looking
forward to it I didn't have the heart to tell him Frank was dead !!
Felixstowe kicked off and immediately
went onto the attack with Crump and Buckle going close. Although having most of
the
possession
Felixstowe were still getting used to a few changes made to the side, however
quality players soon bed in. Spencer broke free of his marker and after
his shot was well saved by Barraclogh in the home goal on 25 minutes
Andy Crump was on hand to pounce and open the scoring.
One minute later a great ball from Buckle found Crump who struck the bar with an
excellent shot.
Felixstowe were now well in control and an amazing run from Pugh
saw him dribble
past three players before crossing for Andy Crump
to head home his second.
Hadleigh re-emerged from the break in determined mood with the second half a
very evenly fought contest with good football played by both sides. Felixstowe
finally made the game safe when Leeson and Crump combined for
Andy Crump to complete his hat-trick with a fierce
shot which Barraclough did well to avoid.
Let's hope Dave doesn't go to London next week where I understand Elvis is performing !!

Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 4 v 1 Ipswich
Wanderers Res. (2-0)
Felixstowe:-
Ryan, Wyard, Drurie, Hall, Carnell A,
Milbourne, Hammond (Tricker),
Tomiak, Crump, Pugh and Carnell D.
Felixstowe extended their lead at the top of the league with a comfortable win
over Ipswich Wanderers Reserves this afternoon.
Felixstowe got off
to a perfect start going ahead in the 3rd minute when
Tomiak found Pugh
with a good through ball, who shot past the
advancing keeper, 1.0. Felixstowe went further ahead in the 18th
minute when Pugh was on hand again to slot the
ball home from close range from a
Hammond cross, 2.0.
In the 25th minute Wanderers were unlucky not to pull one back, a
poor goal kick only found Potter whose goal bound shot was superbly cleared
off the line by Wyard to save a certain goal. Felixstowe’s Crump and Pugh were
causing the Wanderers defence all sorts of problems, but poor finishing and
good defending kept the score to 2.0 at half time.
In the 49th minute Wanderers pulled a goal back with an own goal by Hall who tried to clear a cross round the post but could only manage to put it into his own net, 2.1. Felixstowe restored their two goal advantage in the 55th minute when Tomiak flicked the ball on from a goal kick that found Pugh who pulled the ball back for Crump to score, 3.1. Felixstowe completed the scoring in the 65th minute when they were awarded a corner and Hall’s cross was met at the near post by Crump to score with a fine header, 4.1 Felixstowe possibly should have won by more but for some good defending by Wanderers.

Diss Town Res. 2 v 2 Felixstowe & Walton
United Res. (1-2)
Felixstowe :-
Ryan, Parry (Wyard), Carnell, Hall, Milbourne, Crump, Trigger (Leeson), Laws,
Pugh, Tomiak and Hammond.
This was a hard fought game with both teams working tirelessly to get the upper
hand,
and in the
end they had to settle for a draw that was possibly a fair result.
Diss took the lead
in the 15th minute when Edwards lost his marker
and scored with a powerful header giving Ryan in the Felixstowe goal no
chance. Felixstowe were on level terms in the 32nd minute when
Tomiak put Pugh
through who then cleverly lobbed the ball over the advancing
Diss keeper Edwards and into the net. Right on
half time Felixstowe took the lead through Pugh
after a good run that took him past two defenders and shooting past the home
keeper for a
deserved half time lead. Half
time 1-2.
Diss were awarded a hotly disputed penalty in the 50th minute which Jones converted. For the next forty minutes both teams worked hard to break the deadlock but both defences held firm. It was Diss who came closest with only seconds to go when they were clean through and had only the keeper to beat but Carnell for Felixstowe came from nowhere with a super tackle to save the day for Felixstowe. Full time 2.2

Ipswich Wanderers Res. 3 - 4 Felixstowe & Walton
United Res. (1-1)
Felixstowe:- Ryan, Parry, Wyard (Carnell),
Laws (Trigger), Crump, Milbourne, Hammond (Hall), Tomiak, Snell, Spurling and
Pugh.
Felixstowe gained another three points against a much improved Ipswich Wanderers
Reserves with a hat trick from Snell.
Felixstowe started
the game the stronger of the two sides and had a couple of good
chances in the
first ten minutes. The best chance fell to Spurling, who found himself through
with a one on one after a great ball from Tomiak but shot well wide. In the
25th minute Felixstowe were awarded a corner, Spurling’s cross went
to Parry on the far post whose header was cleared off the line. Felixstowe
took the lead in the 36th minute when they were awarded a free kick
about 20 yards out. Snell took the kick and shot
into the top corner of the net. In the 41st minute Wanderers were
level after a ball into the box was picked up by Burgess
whose clever lob went into the net.
Half time 1-1.
Immediately from the kick off Wanderers took the lead through Owen. 2-1. Felixstowe replied a couple of minutes later with a good run by Spurling pulling the ball back from the touchline for Snell to slot the ball in. 2-2. In the 55th minute Felixstowe took the lead when Crump sent a long ball into the box from a free kick for Snell to complete his hat trick. 2-3. By now the game was end to end with both sides having chances and both goal keepers making saves. Felixstowe got the decisive goal in the 80th minute when Snell turned provider with a lovely ball to Tomiak who shot over the keeper to make it 2-4. In the 87th minute Wanderers pulled another goal back through Potter making the last few minutes of the game very interesting and a bit nervy for Felixstowe but they managed to hang on to the three points.

Stowmarket Town 1 - 4 Felixstowe & Walton United Res. (0-2)
Felixstowe:-
Ryan Parry, Wyard, Carnell, Willett, Milbourne,
Hammond, Leeson,
Crump, Tomiak and Chuck (Nunn).
This was another good performance from a Felixstowe side which were down to the
bare
bones.
Although Stowmarket had the bulk of the possession
it was Felixstowe who came away with the points.
Stowmarket
started the game very well, and for the first fifteen minutes pushed
Felixstowe back into their own half but never tested Ryan in the
visitors goal. Then in the 19th minute
against the run of play Felixstowe were awarded a free kick just outside the
box, Crump rolled the ball to Hammond who crossed to the far post where
Wyard rose
to head into the goal 0.1. Four minutes later Felixstowe went two up when
Wyard and Hammond combined well to set up
Tomiak to lob the
Stowmarket keeper for a well worked goal 0.2.
Stowmarket did manage a shot right on half time but Felixstowe keeper
Ryan made a good save to tip the ball over the bar.
The second half
started well, with both teams playing some good football, but it was
Felixstowe
in the 62nd minute who got their third
goal when Crump put the ball into the net after a
goalmouth scramble, 0.3. The Felixstowe keeper
made two good saves to keep Felixstowe in control. In the 80th
minute Felixstowe made the game safe when Crump
got his second of the game with a shot after a good move 0.4.
Stowmarket did manage to get a last minute goal
through Green to make the final score 1.4
The score line was a bit flattering for Felixstowe as
Stowmarket played very well for no reward.

Whitton United Res. (0-0)
Felixstowe :-
Ryan, Parry, Wyard,(Chuck), Carnell. A,
Pickering (Leeson), Milbourne,
O’Conner, Laws, Crump, Spurling and Carnell.
D
Felixstowe gained another three points against a very good
Whitton side with the only goal coming from Crump
early in the second half. It could have been so different but for four fine
saves from the home keeper Ryan. The first half was a very mediocre affair, in
the 25th minute Spurling for Felixstowe
had the ball in the net, only to be ruled out for offside,
Whitton were awarded a free kick just outside the box that brought a fine
save out of Ryan in the home goal and not long after that
Spurling for Felixstowe had a snap shot that Beal for the visitors had to
dive smartly to his left to push round the post. The visitors almost took the
lead just before half time but for another good save from Ryan.
H.T. 0.0.
Early in the second
half a clever lob from Crump for Felixstowe hit the bar. This was a good
spell of pressure from Felixstowe who deservedly went in front with a good
through ball from D. Carnell to put Crump away
with only the keeper to beat, he calmly slotted the ball past Beal.
Laws for Felixstowe then had a good shot just over the bar. As the game went
on Whitton piled on
the pressure but the home defence held firm. A goalmouth scramble resulted in
Ryan in the Felixstowe goal saving with his legs. Not long after Ryan found
himself in a one on one and produced the save of the game to keep Felixstowe
ahead. Beal for Whitton denied Spurling with a
good save just before the end of the game. Felixstowe have played better this
season and lost, and Whitton can count
themselves a shade unlucky not to get something out
of this game.
Saturday 7th January -
Ridgeons Reserve League

Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 2 - 3
Leiston Res. (0-1)
Felixstowe:-
Ryan, Parry (Chuck), D. Carnell, Frost, Pickering,
A. Carnell, Milbourne,
Tomiak, Swash, Leeson
(Wyard) and Hammond.
This
was a game that Felixstowe totally dominated, but still
managed to find themselves on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat.
Felixstowe kicked off and immediately went on the attack and for the next 45
minutes camped in Leiston’s half. Felixstowe threw
everything but the kitchen sink at them and managed
to hit the woodwork twice, had numerous shots wide and saw some excellent goal
keeping from the Leiston number 1. In the 44th
minute Leiston did manage to get into Felixstowe’s
box, totally against the run of play, to score, making the half time score 0-1.
Felixstowe started the second half much the same as the first and in the 60th minute deservedly levelled the score through Swash, making his debut. 1-1. Five minutes later Felixstowe took the lead when Swash scored his second with a fine shot. Felixstowe continued to push but in the 80th minute were reduced to 10 men. Suddenly this gave Leiston a bit of a boost and in the 84th minute they equalised. Within a minute they found themselves leading 2-3. Although Felixstowe had a couple more chances they could not pull the game back. Felixstowe totally dominated this game from start to finish, they must have had 25 shots to Leiston’s 4. At the end of the day it’s all about putting the ball in the net and Leiston did this very well. Final score 2-3.
Saturday 17th December 2005 -
Ridgeons Reserve League - Group 1 Cup
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 6 - 0 Clacton Town
(2-0)
Felixstowe:-
Ryan, Parry (Pickering), Glencastle, M Buckle,
Crump, Milbourne, Leeson, J Buckle (Tomiak),
Morgan, Spencer, Pugh (Beecroft)
Two goals from 16 year old Callum Beecroft
on his debut for the Reserves completed a comfortable win for the Seasiders in
their final Group1 Cup game. Under 18 player Danny Spencer
also scored twice with Matt Buckle and
Matt Morgan providing the first half goals.
Following the transfer of Lawrence Leggett to Whitton, Chris Ryan (no, not
the Secretary) made his debut in goal for the Seasiders confidently
discharging the tasks he was asked to perform without having to make a save.
In contrast Darren Knopp made a number of fine saves to deny the Felixstowe
forward line with Pugh, Leeson and Spencer going close to scoring in the early
exchanges. The Clacton defence worked hard with Captain Chris Joy producing a
number of timely tackles to thwart the Seasiders, who were enjoying the
territorial advantage, until the 23rd minute when Matt
Buckle opened the scoring direct from a free kick that deceived Knopp in
the Clacton goal.
Buckle, Morgan and Pugh all went close and Knopp saved well to deny Spencer
before Matt Morgan fired home following a good run
and cross from Pugh just before the interval.
Felixstowe continued to dominate after the break
creating and spurning numerous scoring opportunities before 16 year old
substitute Callum Beecroft linked well with
Danny Spencer who made it three. Fellow under 18 team mate Michael Tomiak
provided the ball for the fourth with Danny Spencer
executing his shot brilliantly to give Knopp no chance.
Callum Beecroft opened his senior account with a shot from the edge of
the area which looped over the keeper and scored his second from close range
with fifteen minutes remaining.
Clacton dug deep and continued their effort to the final whistle to prevent any
further goals with Pickering's shot from all of forty yards against the woodwork
the closet to increasing the lead.
The Seasiders have now completed the Group 1 Cup games, finishing top of their league, and look forward to the quarter finals at the end of February.
Saturday 10th December 2005 -
Ridgeons Reserve League - Group 1 Cup
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 3 - 1 Hadleigh United
(0-1)
Felixstowe:-
Leggett, Parry, Wyard, (Willett), Eaton,
Milbourne, Pickering, (Ryan),
Donnally, Sutton, Leeson, Carnell and Tomiak.
Although Felixstowe
had plenty of chances to go ahead early in the game it was
Hadleigh
who opened the
scoring just before half time and with only eight minutes remaining Felixstowe
scored three goals to secure the points to take them into the quarter finals
of group cup.
Felixstowe kicked
off and for the first 20 minutes totally dominated
Hadleigh but for poor finishing and woodwork failed to take advantage
of their superiority. Carnell had a fine 18 yard shot that beat the keeper
and hit the post. Leeson had four good chances to score and Tomiak also had a
good shot. As the game went on Hadleigh started
to take control and
for the final 20 minutes of the half had the better of the exchanges, although
never really testing Leggett in the home goal. In the 42nd minute
Hadleigh were awarded a free kick just outside the
box and they cleverly chipped the ball over the wall and
Munson ran through to score giving them a half time lead.
Felixstowe came out
in the second half much more determined.
Leeson had a
good shot saved by Whitwell the Hadleigh keeper
and in the 70th minute Eaton’s corner for Felixstowe was met with a
fine header by Tomiak that was goal bound but was cleared off the line. In
the 83rd minute Tomiak had a fine run
and went one on one with the Hadleigh keeper to
slot the ball in, giving Felixstowe a deserved equaliser. In the 89th
minute Leeson turned his defender and shot to
make it 2-1. In injury time Felixstowe were awarded a free kick about 35
yards out, Eaton’s shot gave the
Hadleigh keeper no chance.
3-1.

Tiptree United Res. 5 - 2
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. (4-1)
Felixstowe:-Leggett, Elliston, Willett, (Wyard), Hammond, Milbourne, Carnell,
Ingham, (Taber), Glencastle, Payne, (Parry), Spencer and Leeson.
Although Felixstowe took an early lead in this evening’s cup tie they found
themselves on the wrong end of a 5.2 defeat.
With only 10 minutes on the clock Felixstowe went one up, a fine pass from
Spencer on the left found Payne on the right
whose angled drive crept in under the keeper’s body 0.1. Within 4 minutes
Tiptree were level 1.1. Felixstowe continued to play some neat football, and
had several chances, but could not turn these into goals. In the 28th
and 30th minutes Felixstowe conceded two more goals both from lapses of
concentration in defence 3.1. Then right on half time Felixstowe fell further
behind 4.1.
Felixstowe started
the second half and looked the stronger of the two sides and were awarded a
penalty only for the Tiptree keeper to make a good save. (It was not going to
be Felixstowe’s night) Tiptree made it 5.1 in the 75th minute.
Elliston making his debut, for Felixstowe
reserves, did manage to pull one back towards the end of the game to make the
final score 5.2 to Tiptree. In the end it’s all about putting the ball in the
net, although Felixstowe had more of the possession and a lot more goal
scoring opportunities, poor finishing and good goalkeeping was their downfall
tonight. Good luck to Tiptree in the next round. Full time 5.2

- Ridgeons Reserve League - Group 1 Cup
Ipswich Wanderers 1 - 5 Felixstowe & Walton
United Res. (0-3)
Felixstowe;- Leggett,
Parry (Ingham), Willett, Eaton, Glencastle, Ingham, Milbourne, Hammond,
Tomiak,
Payne (Wyard), Leeson, Chuck
Felixstowe dominated
this game from start to finish with a hat trick from Leeson and a goal each from
Parry and Payne, only superb performance from the Wanderers keeper
Youngs kept the
score
to five.
Felixstowe took the lead in the 5th minute when Eaton crossed from
the left and Parry was on the far post to head home
0.1. Felixstowe continued to press and Tomiak forced a good double save out of
Youngs in the home goal. It was no surprise when
Leeson increased Felixstowe’s lead in the 24th
minute rounding Youngs to slot the ball home 0.2,
just before half time Leeson got his second with a
good shot. Half time 0.3
It did not take long for Felixstowe to increase their lead and in the 55th minute from a corner Payne headed in at the far post to make it 0.4. Wanderers pulled a goal back through O’Conner in the 58th minute. Hammond for Felixstowe made a fine run and struck a post before shortly after Felixstowe made it five with Leeson’s third, again a one on one to make it 1.5, This was a good all round performance from Felixstowe.
Wednesday 23rd November 2005
- Ridgeons Reserve League - Group 1 Cup
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 0 - 1 Harwich &
Parkeston Res.(0-0)
Felixstowe;- Cudworth, Parry, Wyard
(Tomiak),
Eaton, Ingham, Milbourne, Hammond (Chuck), Laws,
Payne, Leeson, M Buckle.
Both sides kept their shape in a passing game played to feet but
produced few threats on goal. A looping header from Lee
Neale broke the deadlock with 20 minutes remaining for the Shrimpers to
claim all three points and take the lead in Group 1.
A double save from Cudworth to deny Sharpe and Elmer on 15 minutes was the
highlight of a half that produced flowing football but little in the way of
goalmouth action to warm those that had ventured out on a cold night.
Johnston shot wide from distance for the Shrimpers and Payne saw his rising
effort clear the Harwich cross-bar in the opening two minutes with Leeson
heading over the bar from Eaton's free kick when unmarked to decline the
clearest opportunity of the half.
Lee 'Maradona' Neale had the ball in the Felixstowe net mid way through the half
but received a yellow card for hand ball.
The game, between the top two sides in the group, had all the makings of a
goalless draw until Neale's looping header found
it's way over everyone into the far corner of the net on 71 minutes.
Tomiak and Buckle looked to have created an equaliser as the Seasiders pressed
forward but Quade in the visitors goal recovered to clear and the opportunity
was gone. Cudworth produced a good save to deny Johnston with Ingham blocking
Trekker's follow up shot as the clock ran down.
Over the ninety minutes Harwich deserved their slender advantage and moved above
Felixstowe to the top of the group.

Clacton Town 1 - 3
Felixstowe & Walton United (1-1)
Felixstowe;-
Leggett, Parry, Wyard (Ashwell),
Barker, Eaton, Pickering, Milbourne, Leeson, Payne, Tomiak
and Willett.
Felixstowe maintained their unbeaten run in this group 1 cup, against a very
determined
Clacton side
rooted at the foot of the table . In the first half
both sides were trying to find their feet and chances were few and far between.
Clacton were unlucky when a header was headed off the
line by Parry early in the half. It was not until the 35th minute
that Leeson for Felixstowe found some space on the
left and turned and hit a good shot into the far corner of the net 0-1
.
Almost
on half time Sharp for Clacton pounced onto a loose
ball and shot past Leggett to give the home team a
deserved equaliser.
Felixstowe came out in the second half looking much more determined. It was no surprise when they went in front with Leeson again shooting from 18 yards past Clark in the home goal giving Felixstowe the lead. 1-2. Felixstowe continued to press and in the 69th minute they went further ahead when Barker floated in a corner, Leeson knocked the ball on and Parry got the final touch, a header, to score. 1-3. Clacton tried to get back into the game but by now Felixstowe were cruising to victory.

Ridgeons Reserve League
North
Whitton United Res 1 - 2 Felixstowe &
Walton United Res. (1-0)
Felixstowe:-
Leggett, Wyard, Kyle,
Eaton, Milbourne, Pickering, Carnell,
Glencastle, Spencer, Tomiak and O’Conner.
Felixstowe were down
to eleven players in this local derby against a
very impressive young Whitton side, but managed to come out on top with two
goals from Danny Spencer. Early in the first half Whitton had most of the play
but could not turn this into goals and did not test
Leggett in the Felixstowe goal, it was not until the 24th
minute, that Tomiak for Felixstowe tested Charters in the home goal with a
shot that he saved comfortably. Tomiak had a couple more
shots but were both wide. Just before half time Whitton took the lead when
Welsh ran onto a through ball and calmly slotted
the ball home under the body of the advancing Leggett.
Half time 1.0
In the second half Felixstowe reshuffled the team round and started to get on top and should have levelled when Wyard got on the end of a corner only to shoot over from about five yards out. Soon after, from another corner, Pickering headed the ball forward and Spencer was on the goal line to tap the ball in 1.1. Felixstowe were now pressing hard and a good break by Carnell for Felixstowe was halted by a fine challenge by Rutter for the home team. Unfortunately Carnell was injured in the challenge and took no further part in the game and with no substitutes Felixstowe were reduced to ten for the last thirty minutes. Felixstowe went in front when Eaton’s pass was inch perfect for Glencastle as he rounded the keeper and was brought down in the box for a penalty which Spencer converted 1.2. As the game drew to a close Spencer had a fine run and shot, and down the other end Leggett made a very good save to keep Felixstowe ahead. In what was a very entertaining game, Felixstowe just about deserved their victory, Full time 1.2.
Saturday 5th November -
Ridgeons Reserve League
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 0 - 1 Walsham le
Willows Res. (0-1)
Felixstowe:-
Leggett, Parry, Wyard,
Eaton, Pickering, Milbourne, Leeson,
Glencastle, Spencer, Tomiak, (O,Conner)
and Carnell.
Felixstowe, for the first time in nine league and cup games, failed to score a goal in this entertaining game, loosing to a very hard working Walsham side 1.0.
In the opening
minutes Felixstowe piled on the pressure, Eaton for Felixstowe had a shot
just past
the post, Glencastle’s shot looked like a goal but
the Walsham keeper Mustoe just managed to get his hand to the ball turning it
over the bar. Felixstowe then had three corners in quick succession, the third
one resulting in the ball being cleared off the line after a Leeson shot.
Walsham did manage to get a corner in the 26th
minute but they soon found themselves under pressure again when
Spencer had a shot turned round the post by the visitors keeper.
Felixstowe were unlucky not to go in front when awarded a free kick just
outside the box, Eaton rolled the ball to Spencer whose shot hit the post. In
the 44th minute Walsham took the lead against the run of play when
a long ball out of defence caught Felixstowe out, Pickering was about to clear
when he looked to be pulled back by Flanagan,
no foul was given and he went on to score for Walsham
0.1 H.T.
The second half
started with Felixstowe pushing forward but they could not find a way past the
Walsham rearguard. When they did manage to break through it was only to find
the Walsham No 1 Mustoe in fine form. As the game went on
Felixstowe pushed more players forward in search of the equalizer, this left
gaps at the back and Leggett made two fine saves to keep Felixstowe in the
game. In the end it was not going to be
Felixstowe’s day losing 0.1.
Spencer, playing his first game for the reserves, looked very lively up front
and Eaton, playing his first game in six weeks after injury, looked good in
midfield.
Wednesday 2nd November -
Ridgeons Reserve League
Leiston Res. 1 - 3 Felixstowe & Walton United Res. (1-0)
Felixstowe: Leggett, Parry (O'Connor),
Wyard, Laws, Milbourne, Kyle,
Leeson, Barker, Buckle, Tomiak, Pugh
Despite very wet and windy conditions both sides, and Referee Mr Scrivener, contributed to an
entertaining game. Two second half goals from Darius Laws and a third,
direct from a corner, by Matt Buckle saw the Seasiders collect all three points.
Blades looked lively from the off for Leiston with his counterpart Buckle seeing
a shot blocked and second attempt, following an excellent Laws through ball,
forcing a save from Lambert at the expense of a corner in a bright opening five
minutes.
The wind into the face of Leggett in the first half increased as the game
progressed with heavy rain soon following. Both sides played neat football to
feet and Leggett made a fine save to deny Heath. Wyard, Pugh and Leeson
produced good runs down the flanks with Laws and Barker's probing passes finding
the willing Tomiak and Buckle but without the crucial finish.
Two minutes before the interval a ball from the right found
Garlick unmarked on the edge of the area and he
placed his left foot shot across Legget into the far corner of the net.
With wind advantage Felixstowe pressed forward after
the interval with Laws equalising with a long range
drive which squeezed under the keep at the post. The Seasiders went ahead after
Tomiak's shot was saved and from the resulting corner Laws
headed the ball over the line from close range for his second.
Blades headed wide for Leiston as the rain teamed down and
Buckle secured the win with a with a wind assisted corner kick that
defeated everyone including Lambert in the home goal.
A shocking night weather-wise but the standard of football and refereeing was a credit to the Ridgeons Reserve League as was the sausage, beans and chips in the club house afterwards.
Saturday
29th October 2005 - Ridgeons Reserve League Group1 Cup
Harwich & Parkeston 1 - 2
Felixstowe & Walton United (1-0)
Felixstowe: Leggett, Parry,
Wyard (Jacobs), Carnell, Milbourne, Kyle,
Leeson, Laws, Gordon, Payne, Glencastle
Felixstowe got back to winning ways this afternoon, with a good win over Harwich
who were unbeaten in the league and cup.
The first half
started with both teams battling to gain control with chances few and far
between. The
first real chance came in the 25th minute when Laws for Felixstowe
passed a good through ball to Payne whose effort was just past the post.
Almost immediately afterwards Felixstowe gained a corner and
Wyard’s header was saved on the line by the keeper
and Wyard struck the rebound that was knocked off
the line although there were claims that it was over the line. Felixstowe
fell behind in the 35th minute against the run of play when
Legget made a fine save only for
Murray for Harwich to put in the rebound. 1-0.
Just before half time Felixstowe had a corner and Payne shot over the
bar.
Felixstowe came out
in the second half looking a bit more determined and were pressing
Harwich although they had not real goal chances. In the 55th minute
Legget for Felixstowe made a fine save.
Felixstowe started to press Harwich and in the 59th minute Gordon
had a shot that the Harwich keeper Moore saved comfortably. By now Felixstowe
were having their best spell of the game. Payne had an effort that the keeper
saved well and in the 63rd minute Felixstowe drew level when
Laws saw the keeper off his line and lobbed him
for a fine
goal.
1-1. A couple of minutes later Felixstowe should have gone ahead when a
lovely run by Leeson down the right crossed to the far post where Gordon’s
shot hit the post. Harwich started to press Felixstowe by now but with no
real chances. At the end of the game in the 90th minute Felixstowe
were awarded a free kick outside the area, Laws
stepped up to take the free kick and curled it into the top right hand corner
of the net giving Felixstowe a lead which they hung onto for a deserved win
against a very strong Harwich side.
Saturday
22nd October 2005 - Suffolk Junior Cup 2nd Round
Achilles Reserves 2 - 1
Felixstowe & Walton United Reserves (1-1)
Felixstowe:-
Leggett, O’Conner, Jacobs (Grey), Laws, Kyle, Milbourne,
Carnell, Barker (Parry), Gordon, Leeson, Glencastle.
Felixstowe lost their first game of the
season to a very competitive Achilles side that had Barber and Smith outstanding
in central defence. Felixstowe took the lead in the 7th minute when
Laws' clever through ball put Gordon away who
lobbed the advancing keeper, Johns, in the home goal
0.1. Achilles equalized in the 18th minute against the run of play,
the Felixstowe defence failed to clear the ball and it fell to
Brycland whose shot gave Leggett, in the Felixstowe
goal, no chance 1.1 Felixstowe continued to press but could find no way past the
Achilles rearguard and when they did, they found Johns in the home goal in
excellent form. H.T. 1.1
The second half started as the first finished with Felixstowe pressing Achilles but it was the home side that took the lead through Brycland scoring his second of the game 2.1. As Felixstowe went in search of the equalizer, Achilles started to catch the visitors on the break and Leggett, in the Felixstowe goal, made a couple of good saves keeping the visitors in the game. Full time 2.1.
Good luck to Achilles in the next round. Sadly we heard in midweek that Will Burton a regular with the Reserves side badly broke his leg playing for his Sunday side. We wish him a speedy recovery, from all at Felixstowe & Walton.
Saturday
15th October 2005 - Ridgeons Reserve League Group1 Cup
Hadleigh United 1 - 3
Felixstowe & Walton United (0-1)
Felixstowe :-
Leggett, O’Connor, Wyard,
Glencastle (Burton), Carnell, Milbourne,
Leeson, Laws (Jacobs), Irving, Gordon, Barker.
After not having a game for the last two Saturdays it was good to get back
playing again. Felixstowe kicked off and for the first 20 minutes it was
Hadleigh who had most of the play, although
Felixstowe had two half chances with
Irving shooting just past the
post and Gordon
forcing a save out of Whitwell in the Hadleigh goal.
In the 25th minute there was a small skirmish between Gordon for
Felixstowe and a Hadleigh defender and unbelievably Gordon was given a straight
red card with only a yellow going to the home player, when possibly the referee
should have given the same punishment to both players.
With Felixstowe down to ten men they started to press Hadleigh and in the 30th
minute they deservedly went in front, Laws found Glencastle
with a lovely through ball who passed across to Irving who flicked the ball on
for Laws to finish the move that he had started.
Felixstowe continued to press for the rest of the half only allowing Hadleigh a
half chance that fell to Beer whose lob was just over the bar. As half time
approached Leeson for Felixstowe went past three Hadleigh players and found
himself with only the keeper to beat, only for the referee to stop play for a
foul in Felixstowe’s favour.
Felixstowe
started the 2nd half putting
Hadleigh under pressure and should have gone further ahead but for an
unbelievable double save from Whitwell in the Hadleigh goal
denying Irving not once but twice. At
the other end Munson for Hadleigh had a good
header tipped over the bar by Leggett in the Felixstowe goal. In the 65th
minute Felixstowe went two up from a corner that was hit long,
Leeson picked up the loose ball and sent the ball
back in the danger area where the Hadleigh keeper,
under pressure from Wyard, could only help the
ball into the net. Leggett came to Felixstowe’s rescue when he bravely dived
at the feet of a Hadleigh striker to save a certain goal.
In the 85th minute Hadleigh pulled a
goal back through Beer and in injury time
Felixstowe’s Barker had a shot that Whitwell could only parry and
Burton taped in the rebound. This was a good all
round performance from Felixstowe team that was
reduced to ten men so early in the game.
Wednesday 28th September 2005 - Chell Trophy
Felixstowe & Walton United Res. 6 - 3 Needham Market Res.
(3-2)
Felixstowe-: Leggett,
Parry, Wyard, Glencastle, Kyle, Milbourne, Leeson, BuckleM (Burton), Irving,
Crump, Pugh.
Four goals from Andy Crump saw the Seasiders through to the next round of the
Chell trophy but they had to work hard for the win after Needham drew level
following two goals in the first ten minutes from the home side.
Chris Pickett scored a hat-trick for the visitors but the Seasiders took control
of the second half and goals from Wyard and Irving sealed the win.
In wet and windy conditions both sides produced yet another goal fest as the
Reserves competed in their fourth competition in four games this season.
Felixstowe started strongly and were two goals ahead after only ten minutes with
Crump completing a strong run with a powerful
strike and then claiming the final touch as Davies failed to hold a swerving
corner kick.
Pickett's persistence three minutes later, when the
ball looked to be running out for a free kick, gave encouragement to the
visitors as he neatly pulled a goal back and just before the half hour it
was all square. Proughall outpaced the Felixstowe defence down the right and his
cross was neatly turned home by Pickett.
The Seasiders were now on the back foot, until Crump
produced another stunning drive on the
stroke of half time to record his hat-trick and see the home side back in front.
A glancing header by Crump from Irving's corner five minutes after the re-start took the wind out of Needham's sails and despite Pickett showing his class by completing his hat-trick the home side eased away for the win. On the hour Pugh's corner was powerfully headed home by Wyard and Irving made it six with a looping shot from 30 yards when he spotted Davies off his line.
Saturday
24th September 2005 - Suffolk Junior Cup First Round
Felixstowe & Walton United 4 - 0 Crane Sports Res. (0-0)
Felixstowe-: Leggett, Parry (Gray),
Wyard, Glencastle, Kyle, Milbourne, Leeson, Barker, Crump (Burton),
Irving, and Jacobs.
Another good
performance by Felixstowe beating a very resolute Cranes side 4.0
with Daniel Glencastle,
playing his first game for the club after sustaining an injury in pre season,
scoring the first. Tommy Irving scored 3 goals in the last few minutes of the
game for a well taken hat trick.
Felixstowe kicked off and looked lively with shots from Crump and Irving. In the 38th minute Felixstowe should have taken the lead when Milbourne was fouled in the box and Felixstowe were awarded a penalty, unfortunately Irving’s spot kick went wide. Just before half time Crump for Felixstowe hit the bar with a good header. H.T 0.0
Felixstowe finally
broke the deadlock in the 55th minute when
Irving
ran on to a long
ball,
turned his defender and crossed into the box were Glencastle
side-footed the ball home.1.0. This seemed to spur Cranes on as they put
Felixstowe under a fair bit of pressure, but the defence held firm with
Leggett in the home goal making a couple of smart
saves and Milbourne having a good game in central
defence. It was not until the 90th minute that Felixstowe made the
game safe with Cranes pushing forward, Leeson for Felixstowe, sent a good ball
through to Irving who shot into the far corner of
the net. 2.0. Irving scored two more goals in
injury time to complete his hat trick.
Final score of 4.0 was a bit flattering for Felixstowe as Crane’s battled well for the whole game. F.T 4.0.
Saturday
10th September 2005 - Ridgeons Reserve League
Needham Market 0 - 4
Felixstowe & Walton United (0-2)
Felixstowe: - Leggett, Parry,
(Jacobs), Wyard, Barker, Kyle, Milbourne, Leeson, Tomiak, (Burton),
Gordon, Irving and Carnell, (Gray).
Felixstowe travelled to Needham for
their first league game of the season. After heavy
rain in the
morning the game was in doubt with a waterlogged pitch but a referee’s
inspection just before kick off decided it was ok to play.
Felixstowe kicked off and looked the better of the two sides and it was no
surprise when they went in front. Tomiak at only
seventeen picked up a loose ball that Brett in the Needham goal could not hold
and calmly slotted it home from about 12 yards. Needha
m
came back at Felixstowe with a couple of shots that were off target. Felixstowe
went two up when they were awarded a free kick on the left just outside the
box, from Barker’s cross Irving
just touched the ball past the home keeper. 2.0. H.T.
Within minutes of the restart a long ball out of the Felixstowe defence could only be helped on by a Needham defender and Burton ran on to the loose ball and shot past the advancing Brett in the Needham goal to make it 3.0. A few minutes later a quality ball from Wyard split the Needham defence and Irving, made no mistake with a fierce drive, gave the home keeper no chance to make it 4.0. Credit must go to both sides for producing some good football in extremely heavy conditions.
Saturday
3rd September 2005 - Ridgeons Reserve League Group1 Cup
Felixstowe & Walton United 7 v 0 Ipswich Wanderers
(2-0)
Felixstowe :-
Felixstowe:- Leggett, O’Conner (Parry),
Drury (Wyard), Kyle, Milbourne, Leeson, Payne, Layton, Gordon, Duporte
(Irving), and Buckle.
Felixstowe opened
their season with a comfortable 7 - 0 victory in this Group 1 Cup
match.
Wanderers looked very lively in the opening 15 minutes and but for two fine
saves from Legget in the Felixstowe goal, were unlucky not to be ahead.
Felixstowe started to find their feet and went ahead in the 26th
minute Gordon’s pass across the face of goal was
slid in by Payne. In the 39th minute
Buckle found Payne whose shot could only be parried by
Stannard in the Wanderers goal and Irving
tapped in the lose ball
Felixstowe went 3 up on the hour when Payne found Gordon to slot the ball home. In the 70th minute Gordon back healed a lose ball in the box that took a deflection off a defender to wrong foot the Wanders keeper and make it 4.0. With fifteen minutes remaining Gordon completed his hat trick to make it 5.0. Then in the 80th minute came probably the best goal of the game Leeson flicked the ball on to Payne who flicked it on to Gordon to lob the keeper. Felixstowe completed the scoring when Buckle’s quality pass found Irving on the left who turned his defender and shot into the far corner of the net to complete the magnificent 7. This was a comprehensive victory for Felixstowe with Wanderers having no answer for Gordon, Irving and Payne and with Buckle outstanding in midfield with his probing passing.
