Squad 2008/09
Danny Crump - Goalkeeper
A young keeper who has quickly gained experience and
confidence. Danny rose to the challenge of becoming the first team keeper after
a career change for Paul Cudworth restricted his availability.
Joe Bloomfield – Defender
A young player with experience at Ipswich, Joe who loves to go forward from
defence is highly talented and certainly
one to watch for the future.
Darcy De'Ath – Defender
Transferred to Ipswich Wanderers August 2008
Jamie Drury – Defender
A highly
talented defender who unfortunately has had more than his fair share of
injuries. Jamie has had a good pre-season and is looking forward to the season
ahead.
Patrick Turley – Defender
Paddy signed
from Debenham LC in February 2008 and will add strength and pace to the
defensive line up.
Danny Ebanks – Defender
Strong and powerful in the air, Danny is a solid defender and a valuable member
of the first team squad.
Alan Mills - Defender
A popular and determined player, Alan never shirks a tackle and commits his all
to the cause.
Chris Howlett - Defender
A former favourite at Dellwood Avenue, Chris made a welcome return following a
number of successful seasons at AFC Sudbury.
Sean Bell - Defender
An experienced defender, Sean joined the Club from Ipswich Wanderers at the
start of last season and has formed an excellent partnership with Chris Howlett.
Sean is a popular player and was voted 'Player's Player' of the Season.
Liam Scopes -
Midfield
Joined from Kirkley in December 2006. Liam is a talented and competitive young
player with a great future in the game.
David Grimwood - Midfield
Close-season signing from Grundisburgh, David has impressed with his close
control and goal scoring ability in pre-season matches.
Neil Calver - Midfield
Neil transferred from AFC
Sudbury in October 2007 to begin his third spell at Dellwood Avenue. Neil made over 200
appearances for AFC Sudbury, scoring 46 goals and his skill and experience has
provided a valuable contribution to the teams performance last season.
Paul Betson - Midfield
Formerly with AFC Sudbury Paul signed at Christmas 2007 and brings valuable
experience to the squad. With good pace and the ability to cross a ball well
Paul impresses on the wing. Paul also possess a timely tackle and provides
confidence and composure in defence.
Gavin Frost -
Midfield
Frosty is a determined tackler and loves to shoot from distance, with
considerable success. The team Captain Frosty was voted 'Supporter's Player of
the season'.
Terry Rayner - Midfield
Joining on the eve of the new season after nearly ten years at AFC Sudbury,
Terry will provide pace down the right flank. Terry joined Sudbury in 1999 from
Heybridge Swifts and apart from a spell at Maldon in 2004 he had been at Kings
Marsh ever since enjoying League and Vase success.
Danny Phillips - Forward
Danny received the Ridgeons Premier Division Golden Boot last season for 30
goals and was also
the 'Manager’s Player of the season’.
Dwayne Edwards - Forward
Dwayne has
pace and skill on the ball as well as possessing a powerful shot.
Keith
Hetherington – Forward
Keith, who joined the Club at the start of last season from Clacton, holds the ball up well and scores his
fair share of goals.
Andrew 'Porky'
Claydon – Forward
Andy joined the
Seasiders in February 2008 having been at Mildenhall Town from the start of the
season. Prior to joining Mildenhall Andy had enjoyed eight successful seasons at
AFC Sudbury, scoring 160 goals winning five League Championship medals and
appearing in three FA Vase Finals.
Steve Potts - Manager
Following ten very successful seasons at SIL side Grundisburgh, winning the
league and Suffolk Senior Cup on a number of occasions, Steve took over the
reins for the
start of the 2005/06 season
delivering promotion in his first year in charge.
Mark Manning – Coach
Bosh has joined the club as Steve’s ‘number two’ and has certainly put the lads
through their paces. Last season Bosh was at Brantham
having worked with Steve at Grundisburgh for many
successful seasons. With Colchester in his youth Mark has played for a number of
local sides including Clacton, Cornard and Ipswich
Wanderers.
Dave Capon –
Physio
Popular figure in the changing rooms and in the dug-out, Dave keeps spirits high
and injuries to a minimum.
