Thursday 24th July
- Felixstowe & Walton United Reserves v Stowmarket Town Reserves
Kick off 7.45
* Tuesday 22nd July -
Felixstowe & Walton United 4 - 3
Hadleigh United (1-3)
Two goals
from Bradley Barber as the visitors held a deserved lead at the break, but faded
in the second half as the Seasiders scored three without reply.
A good work out for both sides with plenty to entertain the crowd
on a warm evening. Barber opened the scoring after
six minutes with powerful low strike from distance. The Hadleigh keeper
saved to deny shots from Drury and Grimwood with Hadleigh's Irving striking the
Felixstowe woodwork as the game flowed from end to end.
Betson squeezed home the equaliser from a tight angle just before the
half hour following good build up work from Claydon. Mills under pressure
diverted the ball into his own net as the visitors regained the lead and five
minutes before the break Barber drilled home his
second to give Hadleigh the half time advantage.
Ten minutes after the restart Claydon struck a post with
Frost on hand to reduce the deficit as the Seasiders increased the pace.
When Claydon was fouled in the area Grimwood
stepped up score from the spot and bring the sides level with fifteen minutes
remaining.
Scopes volleyed home the winner shortly after to
complete an entertaining game .
* Saturday 19th July
Pre-season games kicked off in warm sunshine today with the
Reserves and 1st Team
both winning 4-2 against visitors
Woodbridge Reserves and Melton St
Audrey respectively. Both teams worked hard for their victories with
the visitors scoring first in both games.
The Reserves kicked off at
noon with Rob Bird putting the Woodpeckers ahead
after ten minutes following pressure and a number of saves from Algar in the home
goal. Jordan Matthews equalised three minutes later
as the two young sides produced a flowing game of football played in good spirit.
Matthews saw his goal-bound shot handled on the line before scoring his
second from the resulting penalty on 27 minutes.
Mid-way through the second half James Baleham
equalised with a shot across goal from the left before
James Rodwell, with an excellent shot from outside the area, restored the
home sides advantage. With six minutes remaining
Ricardo Phillips fired home directly from a free
kick outside the area to complete the win.
The First team
kicked off at 3pm and were quickly onto the attack with new signing David
Grimwood pictured left first to a left wing cross from Betson but was
unable to direct sufficient power into the header to trouble the visiting
keeper. Melton enjoyed a good spell of pressure winning a number of corners
before
Moreford opened the scoring on the half hour.
Claydon struck a post in search of a reply before
Betson's cross found it's way into the net on 37
minutes for the equaliser. A minute later
Mills headed home from Edward's corner and
Calver provided a comfortable interval lead with a well taken goal from
the edge of the area.
Beaumont pulled a goal back for the visitors just before the hour with
Porky Claydon ending a neat move with seven minutes
remaining to confirm the win.
Chris Howlett
